Lost season 2

Well folks, the wait is almost over, less than 2 weeks til the second season of Lost, the most original tv show since 24, if you want to know how I feel. I praise ABC for not only show reruns in order.. effectively running the whole season twice ( which let my brother FINALLY watch the show I've fawned over for months ) and for not giving away too much with teaser spots.

Anyone else as pumped for this as me?

They are going to make it for another series!!!! NOooooooooo.
I'm in the UK and thought it would be resolved as a one off series.
It's too slow to watch in real time anyway. It's a record and fast forward series

Honest... this is America. The only "one off series" they make are cancelled ones (like Firefly).

The DVD of season one comes out this week as well.

I'm looking forward to it. Apparently the first episode will show us what's down the hatch... besides (spoiler if you haven't seen last season's finale) Spoiler: a ladder going nowhere....

Good idea on starting a second thread for the new season, by the way. I have a feeling the second season will generate more dicussion than the first one did

my BIL works for Disney and I'd like to get a copy of the DVD series from him but I really want to watch the whole thing again before we get back and have to watch the Tivo'd season 2.

there's too many little hints dropped all over the place that I really want to watch it a least a 2nd time.

good point. I forgot it's not about telling a story but milking an idea until it's dead.

that's not entirely fair, there is definitely more story to tell, they might end up milking it, but at this point, I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Based on what we saw in season 1, what makes you think it won't be good?
Why does the fact that I totally loved the show make me an optimist? You expect it to suck? why are you a realist?

Agreed entirely. I am heartened by the fact that, during the last season, it was clear that the Spoiler: Ethan and the abduction subplot was set up to create an end to the entire plot. Since they got the renewal, they took the other turn at that point and continued. I hope that they have the rest of the plot mapped out, however, and aren't just winging it.

I'd say they have some worked out and some of it will be just winging it...

I read an interview with one of the brain trust of Lost that said the toughest part would be the pace at which to dole out answers to questions.. if it is going to run 3 seasons versus 7 would affect when we find out things.

so, you guys like?

I approved of it. We weren't really led around in circles. At first, when they decided to leave the hatch behind, I was afraid the show was going find a way to make it so they didn't explore the hatch, but I'm sure as hell glad that didn't happen.

My official guess is that Desmond has run into each of the surviors at some point in their lives, similar to how he met Jack in the stadium. That's what his "race around the world" was... This goes along with why Locke was so calm with a gun pointed to his head: he knew Desmond from his past, and this helped to confirm that this is all part of everyone's destiny.

And I didn't even realize until the end that we have no idea what's happened to the people on the raft. I wonder if they're just going to end up ashore and then meet up with everyone, or if they're going to find a new part of island relating to the people who took Walt....

Are you decrypting the .tivo file into a more generally usable file format? (.mpg?... .wmv?.... .avi?)

And if so... care to share how? (I've tried several, but all have failed miserably.)

And yes, I think this was a VERY good episode. No real answers, but MANY more questions! I love this show!!

no i'm just d/l the .tivo file and playing the files via media player... i'm too lazy to do much more to it.. but recently someone did email me this info....

Quote:
There is a little program called “Direct Show Dump Utility” that basically strips the few bytes that TiVo adds to make a .tivo file a .tivo file. It is here: http://prish.com/etivo/tbr.htm

Sub-par acting, A hold your hand plot(i totally knew that dude from the flashback was going to re-emerge in that place), and people getting sucked in turbine engines...yet i can't look away.

BTW that Invasion show that follows it is awful.

In the beginning where they showed that guy (and I thought 'woah, this dude's in the hatch') I noticed in a profile shot (when he was looking in his periscope thing) that his face had pockmark/scars/stuff like that. I thought "awesome, they put willem dafoe on the show!"

Then they did a similar profile of the dude running on the steps... and I thought "hmm.. that looks familiar" haha.

I agree with Moskie's thoughts. This guy has run into everyone at some point in the past, and orchestrated a lot of what is seen and heard. I'm just not sure why/what/how.

At least we have (part) of the "who".

Saw it last night folks and all I can say is THIS SHOW ROCKS!!! The writers knew they needed to start the season off strong and they sure did that!

The first five minutes totally had me fooled! I was so sure it was a flashback! I'm totally stoked to find out what happens to Walt next week.

BTW, I don't know how to use spoiler tags, and I don't care because the show was on last night and so it's fair game to talk about it now. If you don't want to know what happens, don't read the thread, it's that easy.

My wife keeps kicking me: I say the actor's lines before they do. (Like Locke at the hatch to Kate, "I was waiting for you") Predictable, but I'm enjoying the ride.

Anyone else notice that the drug Desmond injected into his arm at the start of the show had "4 8 15 16 23 42" on the label?

hearing alot of talk about the show, but any theories on what's REALLY going on in the show. me and my aunt have debated our theories and i think a few of mine were confirmed last night. granted, alot of it still has me puzzled, but here goes with what i think i DID figure out. first of all, it's not an island, it's some sort of ship. started thinking this when the compasses were screwing up in season 1. it's not that something on the island is messing with them, but the island/ship is changing direction. sort of enforced my theory when the guy made the comment about a race around the world. second, if you look at this in tv producer terms, how can you keep the show going if you figure everything out on the island? how can they keep it interesting? and would they just kill a show that is making them millions when the mystery of the island/ship is solved? heck no! so the only way they could keep this thing going for years (and they will because it is so successful) is to put it on a bigger scale. here's my thought. when they were in the air, something apocolyptic happened to the earth. show could run forever if they had to go and bring back a civilization that was "lost". the thing that helped me reinforce my theory about that was the guy down the hatch inaculating himself at the very beginning. like i said. still alot has got me baffled, and thats why its such a great dam show. can't wait for 2nd episode od season 2.

I think you might be partly right. I feel the Rafters will make land fall but will run into other survivors. We still haven't seen the back end of the plane. And don't forget, the married black lady "feels" that her husband is still alive, and he was in the back of the plane...

I for one was a little pissed that the "Down the hatch" story in the 2nd episode finished exactly where it did in the first. An intriguing narrative technique to be sure, but this will be really tedious if every episode is going to be that circular.
