That's My Bush
I was just thinking today that I can't believe how Bush's presidency has evolved... In the beginning of 2001 Comedy Central was launching That's My Bush... has any other president been so thoroughly and consistently skewered by satirists?
http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/tmb/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0268077/ I just can't see this sort of thing getting made today, which is really too bad. I suppose this will live on in reruns in Syria and Iran where they call it, "The Bushes" (it is on right after the Osbournes).

I had only watched a couple episodes of this before I realized it was crap.
It was cancelled before 9/11 and there wasn't much "Bush bashing" other than "haha, Bush is a loveable idiot", so that's not why it was cancelled. It was cancelled because it just wasn't funny or smart, just like everything else those guys have ever made. Maybe I'm being too harsh...nah. |

...that's right. South Park isn't funny or smart either.
I think you are being too harsh. The show wasn't cancelled because of September 11th I'll grant that. I would like to see what the ratings were like though.

I watched a whole marathon of the show and it was pretty funny. Mind you I was only 15-16 whenever it was on so I didn't get the whole gist of it and I wasn't the most mature fellow at that time, but I didn't hate it.
I can understand why it was never watched though since it wasn't on all the time.

Check this out:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0353042/ The guy who played Bush on "That's My Bush" also played him in that 9/11 TV movie. Is that hilarious or what?

IMO, it wasn't about the president. there were political jokes in there, but more than anything, it spoofed tv in general. larry the generic neighbor, the back-talking maid...they just picked bush/the white house as the setup, and used some political issues as plot devices. i'll never forget maggie doing laundry..."i'm gonna make like your father and separate the whites from the coloreds"
