The Office (BBC)
Was looking around and I noticed some discussion of the NBC version of "the Office," and correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no thread for the original! This has quickly become my favourite show and everyone I've shown it to has whizzed themselves laughing, so even though it's been over for awhile, let's start a thread for the original and greatest version of "the Office"
A few questions to kick off the discussion: -The inevitable question: What is your favourite episode/part/character? -Do you think that it resonates with anyone? Or do you have to have some experience working in the office environment to fully appreciate the jokes? -I wonder what "strokes of genius" others notice in the show. For example, I feel there is a cohesive sense of composition in the two season run, when I see the scenes with Keith in the lunch room (Scotch Egg scenes), first with Tim near the beginning of the 1st series, then with Dawn later on, then finally coming full circle at the end, once again with Tim when he reveals his secret to wooing the ladies. I know that I've painted myself as the ultimate fanboy, so please make me look better by chiming in!

You should try and catch the Christmas Specials as well.
There's no dip in quality, as with most other show xmas specials, and it rounds things off quite nicely. As for my favourite scene, the one where Brent is interviewing Keith is definitely up there: Brent: "Ok, what are your weaknesses?" Keith: "Umm, I've got ecsema."

My favorite character is undoubtedly Garreth, and my favorite episode is the one where Brent brings in the speaker to talk to the office, and ends up taking over the situation, including going home and bringing a guitar to perform for everyone.
I think that the show resonates with anyone, as I've never worked in an office situation, but some of the characters are incredibly similar to people I've worked with in other settings or some that I've gone to school with. |

eh, I watched it when I was in London a year or so ago.
I didn't really like it, and I do like british humor. I even tried the NBC offering and it just wasn't all that funny. I guess it's like the Dilbert Cartoon show, I do it everyday, so why do I want it to be my entertainment too?

Man, the British version of The Office is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. And yeah, Gareth is the best character. I know they initially thought the role would have a big, buff guy playing this pseudo-militaristic idiot, but when Mackenzie Crook auditioned, they couldn't say no. His, uh, unique physiognomy just makes everything his character does even more hilarious.
