Haha. The opening where House drugs Stacy's husband is absolutely the ridiculous/funny stuff you'd expect from House. And I also love House as the lovable anti-hero...much like Alan Shore of The Practice/Boston Legal. And to add on to the surgery that Stacy authorized. Basically, House was being stubborn, and incorrectly so because he was desperate to keep his leg and have it retain full functionality. However, because of how much muscle had died in his leg due to being deprived of blood/oxygen, the chances of that were very unlikely and House's decision to "wait it out" would almost definitely lead to his death. So, Stacy took the middle ground (something she even mentioned House was not a fan of), and had them remove the dead muscle mass in House's leg, saving his leg but also leaving him with limited functionality and a lifetime of chronic pain. House knew Stacy saved his life, but could not get over the fact that she went over his head and went against his explicit requests. He never forgave her for what she did, and that led to their relationship's demise. However, the flames definitely did not die...and that is something that should make next season very interesting from the get go. |
Anyone have the Finale on TIVO or something? I only got the first hour.... I think it was a two hour one right??
|
No, the finale was only an hour long.
|
So who watched the season premiere? I thought LL Cool J did a terrific job, although it almost seems wrong that I care about a serial killer. The ambiguous ending was done fantastically although Hallelujah seems to be overused on TV as of lately.
|
I watched it - I'm so glad House is back on TV. I don't watch too much TV, but I really enjoy the 3 or 4 shows I do watch regularly!
|
OMG HOUSE FANS!
He's gonna be parodied on MadTV tonigt |
Just watched it last night, and as a;ways, was pleased by the work of LL Cool J. That guy has some acting chops.
|
We have now have this show in England, and it is slightly strange for us as Hugh Laurie is a English comedy actor. It takes some getting used to seeing him playing the straight guy for once, and with an American accent. It is an ok show, but I can't see it have any long term future as all the episodes seem quite similar, as other people have pointed out.
|
Even I noticed that, but it doesn't make it any less good. I wish they would have more twists. Like the lady dying of rabies - that felt good in a sadistic kinda way. It proved that he isn't a miracle worker, and that they can't always win.
I wish now and again they would have something like they have to rush out of hospital because Dr. Cameron's brother has lost his arm, and like flesh eating bacteria has entered him, but only house has put it together etc. By the way - Best Writing Emmy for House - the three stories. (You champion) p.s. Has anyone seen him off screen? Not knowing him before, but when he opened his mouth and spoke with a english accent I was amazed, even if I already knew. |

Hugh Laurie got robbed at the Emmy's. I don't care how good James Spader is, Laurie deserved it.

I dunno, as a Boston Legal AND House fan it's a tough call. I'd have to say Laurie was a close second personally. His work with the accent is truly impressive, but I do think Spader's character is more challenging and he pulls it off quite well.
|
I found the episodes at the start of the first season were very similar, but as the season moved on they started moving on the side stories as well and my interest in the show was retained.
I have it set on TiVo so I never miss an episode now. |

I knew that Laurie was british as I had seen him on 'Spooks' a few seasons ago (at least, I think it was 'Spooks'), but to see him parade around in a dress and acting the idiot was really, really weird. |
BlackAdder is one of my all time favourite British series. Completely and totally hillarious. I've seen them all.
Baldrick is my favourite character :) |
Dammit! I totally blanked last night and forgot to watch. Drat!
|
Black Adder is good but you should also check our Laurie in Wooster and Jeeves... More comic genius from our man Hugh...
As odd as some have said it is to see him playing the buffoon in Black Adder, I have find it odd to see him playing in House. To me, Hugh Laurie is a goofy, English, comedic actor. My mind sometimes has trouble marrying the two together as I watch House. I keep expecting him to be the Prince of Wales... House is great by the way. |
House is amazing. I'm hooked, the season premire was kinda BLAH but this past one with the little girl was OMG. see look at how much i love the show, I'm using caps. Anyway, quick question:
If anyone has downloaded it or TIVO'ed it, Right after they finish the Life or death procedure with her, they pan to Camron and the Australian dude, if you look behind them you see JOHNATHAN TAYLOR THOMAS. I thought it was wierd as hell, i was like...what's he doing there? Am i just hullucinating, do i miss HOME IMPROVEMENT that much? |
HAHA, I see who you mean. Not sure if that's actually him though.

Hey guys, it's Tony Shalhoub. ;)
I saw Hugh Laurie in one of those Rowan Atkinson period pieces on BBC America recently, (after having seen him on House and in the Stuart Little movies), and was very amused by the character, and amazed all over again by his House accent. He seems to have a different American accent in Stuart Little, than the House one. |
"one of those Rowan Atkinson period pieces on BBC America recently"
It's Black Adder dammit! Comedic genius, dammit! Don't make me come down to East Texas and re-edumacate you Fremen... I have frequent flyer miles and I'm not afraid to use, em. ;) |
 Yes-suh!
|
Monk rocks thou - and isn't House a comedy, just kinda? Also did NCIS get any nominations?
EDIT: Spelling |
House is definitely a drama.
|
This last episode was good but what was that little sub-plot about the black man not wanting racist drugs? In and of itself it was a fine bit of acting, writing, etc.
My problem lay more in that it felt like was grafted onto the episode rather than part of the organic whole. |
So, there are complaints when the secondary patient leads to a revelation regarding the primary patient, and now there are complaints when the secondary patient is it's own mini story by itself? Oh well, you know what they say - can't please everyone ;) :p
|
Another House fan here. I think that show has very good writing and chemistry. I will admit i am glad they got rid of that board of directors guy last season, he annoyed me beyond belief!
|
What did everyone think of the last episode (the one with Ron Livingston as the TB doc)? It was probably my favorite so far and probably the first one where I found myself disliking House throughout the whole show. Part of this was because I identified quite a bit with Livingston's character, but mostly it was because it really laid bare House's intense ego problem and how he cares more about being the "best doctor" than actually helping people and saving lives.
|
Oh my god, i loved last nights episode.
Especially the whole Spoiler: subplot about the breast cancer lady, and Foreman filling in for House at the clinic, then House trying to prove that people forgive cripples to Cameron right as Cuddy enters the room, making it seem like House was apologizing to the breast cancer lady. Man, that didn't come out right, but I think you know what I'm talking about. |

I partly agree with you spec, but I think there was also a definite point in Livingston's character's comments about House not being comfortable with hope.
|

I agree with Spec, that House was just calling BS on Livingston's character. And I also agree about House being called out for his pessimistic views, but it's not the first time he's called out and (at least momentarily) silenced by a patient. Off the top of my head, I remember him having a moment just like that with the Presidential hopeful Senator from season 1. Regardless, it was a fantastic episode. Tonight's episode was also great, and I continue to be amazed at how well-assembled this cast is. I don't want to go further and spoil anything for anyone, but I'll just say that this season just keeps getting better and better. |
Dude! I'm covering my ears, or more appropriately, my eyes! Down under, we're still on season one, the episode the 3 stories ep. Mmm, Carmen Electra.
Methinks it's time to discover Bittorrent... :) But thanks all for supporting House! |
Quote:
Haha. Don't worry, you're not too far behind. And definitely get your hands on the second season episodes if you can. The wait from season one to season two was almost painful, hah. |
Well if we're not getting Lost until 3 months into next year, and that finished ages I go, that leaves...
There aren't that many figures on my hand to show how many months until House. *Runs and cries*. |
As I am posting this from a hospital waiting room (it's pretty cool that they have public internet terminals here :D ), there were at least 2 things that are glaring examples that House is a completely fictional show. 1) The doctors are the ones who actually perform the tests/scans, and not JoeBob the technician. 2) Although I have not seen every single episode, I have not once heard "the HMO will not cover that procedure". ;)
|
silly me, here I thought House was akin to medical school
