I heard about this last night, I was hoping it was a joke, since it hadn't been in any of the media.
This is unbelievable sad.

RIP Mitch, you will be missed.
I hadn't known much about him up until a few years ago, but I have a few of his albums now and had been hearing him on Sirius Satellite Radio's comedy channels as a guest on the "Getting Late with Phil" show and as a guest on Jim Breuer's (sp?) daily show "Unleashed." A huge loss for stand up comedy and the entertainment industry in general. "My apartment is infested with Koala Bears... they are way better than cockroaches. It's the cutest infestation ever." |

Here's a ton of quotes for the uninitiated
he was easily my favorite stand-up comic - saw him 4 times and i have tickets to his show that was scheduled for saturday night at the baltimore improv. he was constently writing new material, so seeing him never got old. my favorite gig of his was at UMD a few years ago. he was up on stage for nearly 2 hours, having finished his set long before. the last 30-40 minutes was just the audience calling out their favorite mitch jokes, and then he would tell them. classy, nice guy. heroin is bad, mkay |

I was introduced to his comedy less than a year ago and loved him. He was hilarious. He will be missed.

I refused to believe it for a few days. Now comes the hard acceptance that our world lost one of its most brilliant, understated comedic minds that we've ever had. No matter how many times I listen to him, I'm always on the floor laughing almost as soon as it begins.

What I loved about Mitch was, his comedy was never at anyone's expense. He had a certain persona that he played, but he always had so much heart in his work. He had a sweetness that was just charming and great, and even though his jokes were the Seinfeld-observational-humor variety, there was a wonderfully warped world-view he was always expressing. I also love his wordplay jokes, and meta-jokes--jokes that play with the concept of jokes. "I used to do drugs. I still do drugs, but I used to do them too." I mean, that's some funny shit! |

Oh no... I just realized who Heberg was when I saw his picture. That really sucks.
That guy made me laugh harder than I ever have before in my life... he had the most amazing delivery that just had me in stitches. I'll miss him.

great points, man. he really did seem like such a genuinely sweet guy, on and off the stage. it's a shame not only because the comedy world lost such a truly unique and hilarious voice, but because the bottom line is he was just a good guy that was taken from the world far too early.
