Corpse Bride

As Tim Burton is my all time favourite director I am of course thrilled that he's making a new movie called Corpse Bride. Unfortunately it won't be shown in theatres until October this year :|

It's his second animated movie and it's based on a nighttime horror story in 19th century Russia

You can se the trailer here

Looks great doesn't it? :D

Kadath 02-04-2005 05:51 AM

It does look good. I always loved Nightmare Before Christmas (though the scene towards the beginning with the "clown with the tear-away face" creeped me out, and probably would have given me nightmares if I'd been younger) and this looks like a worthy successor.

hambone 02-04-2005 12:49 PM

Oooo this could be good!

I hope they have as good of music :)

Mr.Deflok 02-04-2005 12:52 PM

I absolutely adored the trailer, seeing Johnny Depp in stop-motion was fantastic! As soon as you see his face you know that's Depp. Burton provides some of the most wonderful Art Direction seen in films, can't wait to see Corpse Bride in all it's glory!

Anyone here read 'The Meloncholy Death of Oyster Boy'?

IMDB.com says: "Original Music by Danny Elfman" (as if Tim Burton could make a film without Elfman on board). So, no worries there!

That looks like GOLD. Not to mention the post about it on IMDB:

I am a loyal fan of tim burton's. I like most of his movies, I hate it though how nighmare before christmas somehow got into the Goth crowd. THis movie looks like it will fall into that same group of people who paint their fingernails black.

Give it two months after the movie comes out and their will be fat chicks wearing sweatshirts of this movie and telling everyone how it depicts their life.

Tim Burton is usualy refresh and unique with his work (except for Planet of the apes) i do look at this movie preview and i see the identical twin brother of Nightmare Before Christmas which pisses me off.

Am im the only one offended by having a genius like Tim Burton, and his works being liked for the wrong reasons.

please reply."

Bahaha. Why the apostrophe in goths? And "Nipplecake16"? Amazing.

Wonderful. :)

powerclown 02-04-2005 01:27 PM

Love his animated characters and stories...this looks like another great movie from Tim Burton. Thanks for the heads up, had no idea this was coming. :)

Homey_V 02-04-2005 01:52 PM

I've been looking forward to this since I saw the trailer a few weeks ago. It looks excellent and I just love Tim Burton's visual Style.

sadistikdreams 02-04-2005 08:58 PM

Weird, Henry Selick isn't involved with this. He directed all the stop motion animation in "The Nightmare Before XMas".

LutherMac 02-08-2005 04:40 PM

Being a huge Nightmare fan, I'm definately waiting for this one. It should definately be a worthy successor the Nightmare, though I would still love to see a "Nightmare 2" someday.

K-Wise 02-08-2005 05:21 PM

Ah man this one is gonna be wonderful. I love Burton. Can't wait to catch that one.

Asta!!

Hehe yeah :)

I'm surprised I didn't guess that the lead role/voice would be Johhny Depp considering how often Burton's been using him in his films...

Seething 02-09-2005 09:37 AM

I must see this! Thanks for letting me know it's out there. Even if it is 9 months away... :/

Charlatan 02-09-2005 09:48 AM

While I am looking forward to the film... I love Tim Burton's sense of style and his choice of character and story are always nicely offbeat... I am worried that like almost all of his films, it will ultimately disappoint me.

For me, all of his films (except Ed Wood) get very dull or flat in the 3rd Act.

This is probably just me though... most of my friends think I'm crazy.

Is it just me or is Billy Joel looking much more handsome now that he is older than when he was younger?

TexanAvenger 02-10-2005 07:28 PM

I'm all up for another Tim Burton animated movie. Throw Danny Elfman in the mix too, and I'm completely sold. So it doesn't come out until Halloween, but when can we start buying tickets?

That's because you crazy! His films aren't dull :)

Porkchop 02-11-2005 03:26 AM

I agree charlatan.
His movies are ok but are tired by the final act. I also prefer ed wood. One or two of his movies i dont see the appeal. Yet this does sound quite interesting.

I'm very excited. A friend told me that it was in the making a year ago, and I've been very patient about it, but my patience is wearing thin...

I always thought his bulging fish eyes have somehow flushed back into his head. Either way...who cares, that dude can write, play, sing and perform.

Definately one of the all time great singer/song writers, imho.

Oh yeah...looking forward to TB Corpse Bride as well

Johnny Pyro 07-05-2005 01:23 AM

Thanks for the trailer link. It looks good. :D

cabbit 07-06-2005 07:29 PM

Just saw a commercial for it. looks great, and Nightmare before Christmas music was playing the the backround HA! I love TB and hope this movie kicks serious behind.

CandyLover 07-21-2005 08:14 AM

Yeah I can't wait to see this movie. Jonny Depp and Marla(forgot her name.. Helen something?) from fight club are the main stars. ANd Tim Burton is making it... it'd be hard to make this bad =]

powerclown 09-22-2005 10:00 AM

In theaters tomorrow.

Xazy 09-23-2005 03:57 AM

I saw the movie this past week, in a preview showing so here are my quick 2 thoughts on it. First off, the movie is maybe 75 minutes long. Very short! I saw the movie in preview, because I love Tim Burton, and I am a huge fan of the nightmare before christmas, but this movie did not come close to being as good! I would give the movie maybe a B- (or in my personal ratings system, I would add it to netflix but not pay full price to view it).

The movie was cute, and how they make it is amazing, and some of the details are just WOW. But I just would not say this is a movie you have to rush out to see.

Also the people I saw this with, agreed about the movie. Just my opinion.

sashime76 09-23-2005 05:35 AM

Watched the preview on MTV the other night, quite interesting I must say. I think it's too spooky in some parts for my 4 1/2 year old though.

spongy 09-25-2005 01:46 PM

The wife and I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Better story than I would have hoped for and once again the stop motion was great. In fact there were a few times I was wondering if they threw some CG in there or are just that good.

Also, there is a Harryhausen tribute that i noticed, great touch.

Uncle Pony 09-25-2005 02:48 PM

I hate the vast majority of Burton's work. This looks like it's going to suck as bad, if not worse, than Nightmare Before Christmas. :hmm:

I too am not a huge fan of his work, but I don't think I'd say I hate it. As much as I wish I could, I just can't seem to take it seriously. It's like gumby on acid. Well, gumby on more acid. Maybe I will go see this though, I have matured alot since I last saw nightmare before christmas.

What is Harryhausen? That was the name of the restaurant in Monster's Inc, too.

I never saw Nightmare before Christmas, but hubby and I are going to see this one....hope I like it.

It finally hits the theatres; the stop motion movie by my favourite director which I've been waiting for for months. And guess what. I'll only be shown in theatres 100 kms away from me

NOT FAIR!
