Fantastic Four trailer released on Quickview...

High for those with slower i-net connections.

Even though I hate the cast they chose. I'm probably gonna end up seeing this one. According to another guy at another website I post at, the final fight scene cost 20 mill to film.

Asta!!

Doesnt look too bad. But I'm more looking forward to the other comic book movie with Jessica Alba.

K-Wise 01-19-2005 05:08 PM

^ Which one would that be?

Asta!!

Sin City.

And yeah I saw this trailer before the Elektra movie and it looks awesome.

K-Wise 01-19-2005 06:16 PM

So you saw Elektra? Did it suck or was it pretty good?

Asta!!

Journeyman 01-19-2005 06:23 PM

What's the song in that?

Xiangsu 01-19-2005 07:06 PM

Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the rythme of the war drum

Its by a perfect circle and is off the album emotive. The use of this song on the trailer makes me want to see it that much more...

I'll let you decide...

Movies that I thought were better.

Batman and Robin
Hulk
Daredevil
Punisher

About equal with Blade Trinity.

So depending on your mood it's on the borders of decent and man this fuckin sux! got ya

Asta!!

Mr.Deflok 01-20-2005 01:29 AM

Personally I think it looks horrendous, regardless I'll still go watch it at the theatres... masochism? You decide.

I've never like the comics anyway so I won't be so offended by any deviations they make (and I'm guessing there'll be plenty). In saying that Dr.Doom looks pathetic to the insurmountable bad ass he is in the comics.

Nancy 01-20-2005 02:29 AM

OYFG haven't we seen enough of these cartoon based movies?

K-Wise 01-20-2005 04:22 AM

^ Apparently not

Asta!!

Charlatan 01-20-2005 06:06 AM

I don't have a problem with films inspired by comic books... I do have an issue with ones that suck or so radically change the original source that they might as well have created something new...

As for the fantasic four... Some of that trailer looked cool but it is really too hard to tell... I don't like the casting and I'm not keen on the look they gave the thing... not rocky enough (although I suppose if this becomes a series of films they can have him mutate further).

noodles 01-20-2005 08:43 AM

i don't have a problem with them either
i'm just glad they're dong more original types like sin city, as opposed to the standard super hero types. those are getting a little boring.

anyway, the trailer makes doom look like a jackass, it better make up for it...

The FF are a comic book not a cartoon. :)

FngKestrel 01-20-2005 01:33 PM

Lockjaw, you beat me to the punch.

Yeah, I'll have to go see this one, for Jessica Alba, and because I like the Fantastic Four. I'm glad we have the technology to bring to the screen the effects we read in comic books without it looking hokey. And if they can properly adapt the comic storylines, then it's all good.

Maybe a good version of the Avengers next? Or X-Factor would be cool too.

01-20-2005 01:43 PM

Who is that boner playing Victor Von Doom?
I really thought fantastic four would be the one comic not popular enough to get a movie made. lameness.
what we NEED is a Milk and Cheese movie.

Mr.Deflok 01-20-2005 02:49 PM

BTW, anyone else concerned for the safety of the driver of that Mac truck? I mean, sure Grimm saved the other fellow but.. the guy in the truck... jam sandwich.

mrklixx 01-20-2005 03:47 PM

If there is no Herbie, then I'll not be seeing it. Oh the travesty!!

ICER 01-20-2005 04:24 PM

Well. the rumor is that they made a FF movie a few years back, But it was so bad, they never released it ( I saw a few clips from it at a Convention, it looked ike a real sticker) And they wanted to make a another. Hope this one is better.

I've been reading the FF comic book for years. From what I seen on the clip. It's close to the real story (IE: The Thing isn't as rocky when he first transforms. But becomes the Thing we know and see today after his Second Transformation) But Doom has no real powers. Just a power suit that he wears because his face was scared in a lab accident. And was not part of mission that transformed the FF.

OK. I'm going to stop here before I reveal just how big of a geek I really am.

OOPS. to late. I'll just end with. 'It looks like it might be worth the price of admission'

Malou 01-20-2005 05:12 PM

Man the trailer looks so badass i can't wait till the movie comes out!!!

not a rumor. They definitely made one a while back. They decided not to release it for a number of reasons, one of the main ones being the fact the movie was horrible and the graphics sucked.

I don't know about the trailer. At first I was like "AWESOME!" but the more I watch it, the more it seems like Daredevil or something. I hope it turns out good. Reed Richard's CGI looks kind of - interesting. We'll have to see if it's all looking good or not. Johnny Storm looks badass flying around. Ben Grimm - couldn't have nailed it better. Sue Storm? Not bad, Jessica Alba is certainly pretty and can act if she has to. The only person I'm afraid of is Victor Von Doom (if I remember correctly). I just don't see this translating into a movie very well. The whole character seems too larger than life to put in a movie. But we'll see. Most of the graphics look excellent so far, save a couple of small clips. I am hoping for the best. The Fantastic Four are my favorite comic book characters.

noodles 01-20-2005 08:57 PM

indeed, thats the problem
doom is a character that can't be properly protrayed in a movie
(and yes, its victor von doom)

/me isn't a comic nerd, hasn't even ever read a fantastic four comic

edit: BTW - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0573037/

do'h! I don't know why the heck I thought of cartoons when I wrote that :p

ICER 01-21-2005 02:28 AM

Actually, they did have a cartoon of the FF. in both the 60's and the 70's. neither one last very long

Ganguro 01-21-2005 02:57 AM

but they were both VERY cool..
i long for the return of the "Thing Ring "..
*swoons*
Though this movie looks like shit.. Wonder if they will make a Y the last man movie.
Heck, or even a Deadpool movie.. that would be very cool.

Suave 01-21-2005 09:17 AM

Hell I'd see it just because Jessica Alba's in it. I even watched Honey (well, I watched about 10 minutes of it, but still). I'm still waiting for the Wolverine movies. :D

Fremen 01-21-2005 01:26 PM

Most of it looks ok, but the scenes with Doom just aren't right. It's not him, at all.

Thanks for the clip, K-Wise.

And there was also one in the mid 90s as well.

As far as Doom not translating into the movies...well the armor and what not won't but I think the arrogant meglomaniac who becomes jealous of Reed and seeks to destroy him is believable enough. Now if the movie is a success what WON'T translate will be any of their other villains.
Galactus and the Silver Surfer-a giant planet eating alien that wears purple and has a chrome plated side kick that cruises around on a giant surf board.
Annilus-a giant bug warlord from another dimension
Blastarr-a giant monkey looking warlord from another dimension
Moleman-A guy who command a group of mole people from underneath New York
The Inhumans-a race of beings who aren't mutants and aren't humans who live in an invisible city and has a leader who doesn't talk and a teleporting dog with a tuning fork on his head.
Namor-the misunderstood half human half Atlantean ruler from under the sea.

Suffice to say even if the FF movie is a hit I hope it's a single movie because their villians suck!

And yes I'm a comic geek and proud of it. :D

grendel 01-21-2005 09:00 PM

i think it'll probably suck, but i'll be going to see it anyway. and as for whether or not we've had enough comic book movies, i vote NO. what, you'd (not directed at anybody in particular) rather have more remakes of classic flicks like The Longest Yard?

Willravel 01-21-2005 09:21 PM

I'll see it because of Jessica Alba, but I'm not expecting much more than some decent visual effects.
