Upcoming X-Files movie
I'm not sure how many X-Files fan's there are here, but I have been reading that there is a pretty good chance there will be a second X-File movie. Most likely to be shot either late this year, or early next. What confuses me is that almost everyone who will be involved keeps saying it will be a stand alone story. If they are going to make an X-File film, why would they not continue on with the story? How would they even do this? Would it be set in the 90's when they both still worked for the FBI? Would it be about some mystery they solve while hiding out in a small town? Anybody have any more insight onto why they are not continuing the story from the series?

Maybe because the story ended up so convoluted that one film couldn't possibly tie up all the loose ends.
Also, if the movie was to continue the story from the series, it would only appeal to X-Files fans, and no new viewers. If you look at the first X-Files movie, it had a plot that stood on it's own and contributed to the overall plot of the series, so it catered both to X-Files fans and people who had never watched the show before. Maybe that's what they're doing with the new movie, or maybe they're simply trying to appeal to X-Files virgins, because most of the fans (Well, me at least) stopped liking the show during the last season. |
I love the X-Files, but I do feel the next movie should be a stand alone adventure. All of the James Bond movies were stand alone.

did the james bond films spawn out of a television show?
|
i think james bond came from a book which ian flemming wrote after he was a british spy type. saw this thing on the history channel about world war 2 and james bond

as a X-files fanatic I really hope that the movie will become reality soon!

Woah, the X-files is still around?
I never realised. I think I stopped watching around the time when I learned that what you thought was the top secret conspiracy was actually, conspiratorily, just a smoke screen to draw attention away from the conspiracy which was just a red herring to cover up the conspiracy that went all the top which really involved diversionary tactics to hide the real truth behind the govenment agency's conspiracy. |
As long as Gillian Anderson is in it.. i'll be there ;)

Nancy, can you get any more wonderful? |
With any luck the film will explain how the several seasons didn't really happen and it was all some sort of hallucination that has been continuing since they fell into the carnivorous crazy spore/mushroom thing back in the day.

I loved the X-file shows, but if they plan on makiing a new movie than it better be good because if it isn't it'll taint the series.
