If ever the two should meet.

A friend and I were having a conversation the other day. We were thinking, what if somehow, a cave troll went to the super market and was reaching for the last carton of milk, and rancor reaches for it at the same time. So now the rancor, and the cavetroll, are going to get in a fight for some milk. Who would win? Now I'm not talking about full battle armor cave troll, thats just cheating, plus he wouldn't be wearing his armor to a super market.

The troll, being a biped, has greater mobility, which should see him triumph.

Plus I dont know what the other thing is, but its main weapons look like its teeth, and the troll has pretty tough skin.

The rancor is substantially larger. If it was able to hold Luke in one hand, that would make it around 100' tall. They are both dumb, but the cavetroll (in Fellowship) was taken down by arrows and blunt object blows. In order to kill the rancor, it took ingenuity, as Luke luered it under the giant gate. The rancor has the size and strength advantage. I'd say the rancor has the advantage because it take intelligence to beat him. Intelligence is something the cavetroll lacks.

the rancor for sure. I don't think a troll can even comprehend a thermal detonator, let alone find one and shove it down the rancor's throat.

I'm gonna say Rancor as well. The sheer overwhelming size difference would give the rancor a clear advantage.

100' tall? not at all. their hands are proportionally huge to their body. rancors are about 5-10 meters tall, so about at most 35 feet tall. however, if we're talking about domesticated rancors from dathomir, we're talking a few meters taller and a bit smarter. but either way, i'd say that the rancor would prevail.

Rancor. I'm thinking the final moments would go like this:
Troll: *Swings and misses, it can't hit a jumpy hobbit afterall*
Rancor: *bite*
85% - Troll: *dead*
10% - Troll: *swings axe into Rancor's head then dies*
5% - Rancor: *takes axe in brain, dies with dead troll in mouth*

Troll isn't smart enough to overcome the advantage of enormity the Rancor possess. Then again it is smart enough to wear armor and use an axe while the Rancor is smart enough to get it's shit ruined by a gate. Maybe Troll inteligence is better than Rancor intelligence? Then again a Rancor that knows how to crochette and nothing else would be considered ridiculously stupid by other rancors as the only way it could survive would be in a circus.

size difference leans it heavily in the rancor's favor- maybe if it was one of the shock trooper trolls from ROTK- with a polearm and serious armor- they seemed mobile and far more dangerous than the run of the mill cave trolls.......they were at least active tool users and might be tough enough to dodge and hit untill they dropped the much larger rancor.....

The rancor, for sure. Can you picture a standard wooden club slowing that thing down as it tears the troll into little pieces with its five-foot claws? That's just silly

StarWars.com says "Height: 5-10 meters (Dathomirian rancors are taller)", so 100' is too big. I retract. I'd say that the Rancor in Episode 6 is roughly 12m tall, but if we're talking about the average, it'd be closer to 7m.

I'm voting for the troll. He can use weapons, after all. And what self respecting troll goes anywhere without his axe?

Keep in mind that the trolls in ROTK in the armor are Mountain Trolls, not Cave Trolls

Cave trolls don't wear armor, they are much harder to train/control.

I say cave troll... he's got the dexterity to use a weapon such as a huge fucking lance... like the one he stabbed Frodo with

If he launched that puppy into the Rancor... well.... you saw what those spikes on the door did to it.

Done like dinner.

Wow, i didn't know those were different trolls in RotK, cool i just got edumacated! I was voting Rancor just for its ferociousness, but am easily swayed the other way by the convincing arguements here.

I vote rancor because it's one ugly son of a bitch. If I saw a cave troll jump out of the darkness, I might piss my pants then run. If I saw a rancor jump out of the darkness, I'd piss my pants, shit them, scream, then run around in circles and get eaten.

Maybe serve some port with roasted rancor with onions and brown rice, as I'd imagine ranco is more oily and stringy, like duck. But for cave troll, I'd go with zinfandel, and some vegetables. Cavetroll would probably be more like veal or pork.
Humans would win because of our wine.

I think Rancor meat... Especially one like Jabba kept... It would be all soft and tender like veal... Now a Dathomir Rancor would be a lot more lean.... Some good Rancor stip loins marinated in your favorite sauce would proably be tasty.

As per a Troll... I imagine it would be very tough meat... so you might want to stew it, or slow cook... Soften it up a tad.

i think the cave troll would win because he's probably smarter than the rancor. But, I know for sure that if Superman was there, he'd take both of them out.

Next it's going to be Jean-Luc Picard vs. Benjamin Sisko in bare-knuckle boxing - and then the spittle will really fly.
