Brad and Jennifer split !!!

I don't usually care about this stuff, but this news kind of shocked me.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Separate

1 hour, 54 minutes ago

Add to My Yahoo! U.S. National - Reuters

By Steve Gorman

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Superstar Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have separated after 4 1/2 years of marriage, but they remain "committed and caring friends," they said on Friday.

The announcement of their split followed months of tabloid stories about spousal ups and downs, including reports that Pitt, 41, wanted to become a father but Aniston, 35, was reluctant to start a family.

Aniston had been photographed recently without her wedding ring, but just two days ago the New York Post splashed a picture of the couple on its front page with a circle around Aniston's hand and the headline: "The Ring's Back On!"

Pitt, one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading men, and Aniston, who became a household name on the long-running NBC television comedy "Friends," met on a dinner date in 1998.

They were married in a lavish, celebrity-studded wedding in the seaside California resort of Malibu on July 29, 2000.

News of their breakup came in an understated announcement released late on Friday afternoon through People magazine.

"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate," they said. "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media.

"This decision is a result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."

Aniston's spokesman said the pair spent the New Year's holiday weekend vacationing together in the Caribbean with her former "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox and her husband, David Arquette.

Pitt, currently starring in the crime caper "Ocean's Twelve," and Aniston, best known for her TV role as Rachel Green in "Friends," also are partners in film production company, Plan B, whose first movie, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," is due out later this year from Warner Bros.

I personally don't care if "Brad and Jen" jump out of plane together and their chutes fail to open leaving nothing but a bloody mess. Their break up is neither shocking nor is it beneficial to me, and the fact that they feel the need to address it to the world makes the whole situation even more amusing. Not to down your thread or anything, I just don't see why anyone would give a damn about someone they've never even met.

I saw this as a story on the local news tonite, I guess it was a slow news day or something, but come on... a celebrity divorce making the news? That's just sad...

I'm sure that Brad won't be alone for too long...

The most glamorous couple of hollywood can\'t have a hollywood ending either. Although not a crazy fan, i do like both. Well, they made the announcement because there are fans who care. And it did make onto the top news list for all major media just now, even washington post and bbcnews. Anyhow, it\'s certainly better than paris hilton\'s missing dog making headline on cnn.

i also don't normally care about this kind of stuff, but this surprises me too! i think it would be tough to have two super-celebrities in a relationship. but if they can go for 4 1/2 years, why can't they go longer? i just don't get it i guess.

I remember an interview awhile ago where Brad said something like "Relationships don't last. You go for awhile, but then it's just over." If I heard that from my husband, we'd have to have some serious talks. He just seemed very flippant about things.

But come on.... they're just people. We don't know what goes on inside their house.

If i heard that from my fiancee I'd be a little nervous on actually marrying her. He sounds like he is setting himself up for failure...or at least an early divorce.

They have good reason to address it to the world, because otherwise they'd be constantly harassed about it to an even greater extent than they will be. It's not like they're being egotistical by doing it; it's more of a practical approach.

Think about the problems you have with your current significant other/spouse - everything from the trivial to the really big fights.

Now multiply that by 1,000 due to:

1) Barely ever living in the same location
2) Working all the time
3) Stalker photographers hiding in your bushes, following you while you drive, figuring out where you're going on vacation
4) Every piece of media possible (mags, newspapers, internet, television) hanging on every move of your relationship, and when they have nothing, simply pulling things out of thin air and inventing conflicts, causing everyone - from your friends to even your parents - to call you from time to time and say, "is this true? Is everything okay?"

I'm not saying anybody should feel sympathy for anyone else, but if anybody's wondering why celebrity relationships rarely work out....think about it.

Then you didn't see the "coverage" cable news was giving it? Calling in the kings and queens of Hollywood gossip to "dish" on what went wrong and discuss what the future held for beloved Jennifer and loathsome Brad.

It's so sad they split up....*sigh. My only light in this tunnel of darkness is maybe, just maybe, they will venomously split apart and then a sex tape will just 'pop' up anonymously on the internet.

How nice would that be?

BTW: Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie? How many gorgeous woman does he have to go through before the gay thing sticks? Not that I care, but the evidence is mounting, no?
