Alias - Season 4
There was a thread from last year, but I thought I would start a new thread for this year.
Last nights 2 hour season premiere was great. At the beginning I was confused at what was going on, but everything really worked itself out. If you didn't watch, don't read on, and watch it. This is going to be a great season. Is it me, or is Sloan always doing more to get himself closer to the Rimbaldi stuff. I mean, he says he is working for the US, but I really think he has one goal in mind and will manipulate any way he can to get there. He's a bad, bad man. Syd and Vaughn. No lets take our relationship slow... One near death experience 24 hours later, they're in the sack. By the way Jennifer Garner was looking good in the lingerie. Jack, kills Syd's mother who Sid finds out put a hit on her. Nice twist. Only now her half sister is looking for the killer of her mother (Jack). She says she will find him and kill him. And Syd knows that her dad killed her mom, but lies to her sister in law. Even better twist. Can't wait until next week. |

I think Syd's mom wanted to kill her because of the Rimbaldi stuff, but her death must have happened sometime last season.
I also think Syd's sister is a goner by mid season. I am sick of the Syd and Vaughn relationship. It just getting silly

Did anyone get this on tape? I've been trying to figure out if that was Cat Stevens singing "The Wind" towards the end of the 2nd hour, or if it was a cover, and I didn't get to catch the credits.

I got it on tape, although, checking for that would not be the biggest point I would look for, it is like lost sometimes you have to watch it twice
Yeah Vaughn seems like quite the whiner

two issues about last night's season premiere: 1. was how they used rick yune's character (chinese assassin)... he kidnaps sydney, plays with her a bit, then tries to drown her. then he runs off with the sword. but he runs into a meat locker? and then he tries to kill her? why not just cut her in the first place?? yea, yea... i know, that's the way it was written etc. etc. it just seemed to be something out of character for the guy (but i guess he didn't try to kill vaughn right away either). 2. so sydney has to be at work in the morning (multiple times, people said they would be in tomorrow, be at work the next day, etc.), but her half sister comes over, and they fly to belarus to see where their mother is buried?!?! |

The timing is always unrealistic....so what?!! Her wigs are fun as hell and she looked great in the lingerie. I too am sick of Vaughn the Whiner, but it took balls for him to kill his miserable wife and burn down his house, (Ha - shades of Talking Heads, but, I digess...with a laugh) SLoan drives me insane. I hate him. He's such a smarmy villian and sooo good at it. Love Syd's Sis, she is gorgeous & will end up being a major hottie soon. Oh yes, that WAS Cat Steven signing his song, "The Wind". An original cut too. But quite a maudlin touch.
This year could be pretty wild (I Hope, if we get lucky). I miss Irena!!

My wife makes me watch this with her. Overall, it is an entertaining show.
One thing about the premier was how all the guys were together as a team, including Sloan. For some reason, I kept thinking of the Justice League of America from when I was a kid. I kept laughing through the entire show.

Oh wow, I cannot WAIT for Alias to start again in Oz! I love this show - it's just an hour of pure escapism.
And I dunno....I kinda like the Vaughn/Syd thing!

Can somebody fill me in on this show? Never watched it before but I decided to be a sucker and leave the channel on after Lost went off and things look pretty good. I just have no idea what the back story is to anything. Kind of like 24...everybody says it's good but since I never watched the first season I never bothered to watch the following seasons.

the first show was pretty good... but i Just think it's funny that they basically have 6 cast members that they have to keep moving around to different secret departments... I mean really... Sloan is back? You knew they had to bring the tech guy in...

I love this show. Syd in lingerie was totally hot. I think their ratings are down so they need to sex it up a bit. Sad, but it has it's benefits!
This could be a great season. All the super CIA agents together on one team with no rules. I think Jack is my favorite character. He's totally ruthless. |

I'm really looking forward to how the whole Black Ops thing works out. It has the potential to either bring the show farther up or make it plunge.
Did anybody else find themselves laughing hyterically when they pulled out the playstation? For some reason that hit me hard and I just couldn't stop laughing. |

Not surprising Weiss is back with Black Ops, Not the best Alias yet, but good. Jacks little lie to Syds sister (I can't ever remember her name) it was the best thing but it will definately backfire sooner or later. I still don't think she will live through the season.
Hopefully Vaughn will be dead next week

As for comparing 24 to Alias, they’re nothing alike. In 24, people die. In Alias the only way someone dies is when the actor or actress wants off the show (as was the case with Sydney’s mom). If you like 24, I’d also suggest MI-5; that show is the best of them all! |

Bringing this back up. Was it on Wednesday? Or did they cancel it because of the state of the union? I like it so far this year, but it is taking me a little while to get in to this all new secret op group. At least with the Rimbaldi artifacts everything kind of had some connections. Now it just seems like every episode they are going for something totally new...

I saw last night's episode, and I too would use the words 'ho hum' to describe it. I mean, Syd kept just about all her clothes on the whole episode. What's up with that? Seriously it didn't have that Alias knockout punch I needed. As if she wouldn't tell the others that she was feeling sick. I'm sure she'd keep that to herself. Geez.

so far each episode of this season has been independant of the others in terms of plot. nothing really binds them together. the style also seems....different. i can 't place it, but i think the camera work is slightly different than other seasons. if you watch closey, in meetings the cam does the shaky, zoomy bit a little more than it used to.

Well last nights episode showed somewhat of a change. A plot is starting to develop nicely. I like the whole rimbaldi thing, and it seems to be coming back. Sark is one of my favorite bad guys on TV, and I'm glad to see him out again.
Obviously Syd's sister won't die. These people take a lot of shots... Actually looking forward to next week. |

I really got into Alias in the second season and was a pretty big fan throughout last season. But, as many have mentioned already, this new season just seems like they're really reaching to keep the show exciting and keep all the characters in place, but it's just making it more ridiculous than it already was in the first place.
Plus, the move from Sunday nights to Wednesday at 9 puts it up against West Wing. And as much as I liked watching Jennifer Garner karate chop henchmen, I'd much rather watch the West Wing than a seemingly deteriorating Alias.

Pulling this out of the drawer and brushing off the dust....
What genius writing was that last night in terms of comedy? Marshall having to run through a mission, Sydney describing his own gadget to him just like he would, him actually doing well then accidently killing Ulrich, then popping one eye and having to pull out his other with the most handy tool available, a spork... I like seeing the writers having fun with the script and playing more with Marshall's character, even if the show has deteriorated somewhat. |

Dusting off once again...
OK, the story line has really picked up the last few episodes. All the radiation stuff with Syd's dad. I like the Vaughn's dad might be alive plot as well. Oh, and I'm a huge fan of Sophia being a villain... One thing though, sloan sees the rimbaldi device gets kind of crazy killing that guy, and now all is quiet... I wonder what's up with that. Any ideas what the secret is that Jack is keeping from Syd? Oh and during the halluciation scene. What if Jack wanted to make out with his wife (Syd acting) that would have been sweet. |

I watched the first three seasons, but for season four, I just haven't found the same interest, sadly. The first episode disappointed me, and I have since watched about 3 episodes in pieces. So, I don't really understand the plots they have followed. BUT, I did watch the episode in full that Tex described. I liked that one. haha, the spork. *giggles* So I agree with what Tex said, that episode was fun to watch. But I haven't watched any episodes since then.
