The initial premise was really cool; a team of undercover agents who think they're working for the CIA but in reality they're working for the bad guys (SD6, with Sloan is in charge). Sydney and her Dad know the truth and work as double-agents. Basically, she wore hot clothing and kicked ass. But then the CIA succeeds in taking down SD6, so now the whole double-agent story is done. Sydney and her dad just work for the CIA trying to track down all these “special objects” invented by some guy named Rimbaldi before the bad guys (mostly Sloan) get to them. There are tons of sub-plots and lots of bad guys; even Quentin Tarantino does a cameo as a villain. At one point I think that Sydney’s mom turns out to be Darth Vadar. Plus, her wardrobe got much worse. That brings us to this season. Now everyone works for a new black-ops group and Sloan is back in charge (cause it makes perfect sense to put the uber-villain as the head of the good guys
). This week’s episode was actually pretty good. And judging from the new opening credits, the writers realize that Sydney’s outfits play a major role in viewer attention
.
As for comparing 24 to Alias, they’re nothing alike. In 24, people die. In Alias the only way someone dies is when the actor or actress wants off the show (as was the case with Sydney’s mom). If you like 24, I’d also suggest MI-5; that show is the best of them all!
