Reality Shows
Is anybody else pissed off at the lack of TV shows with fake characters and fake plots?
I mean, before there were Friends, Seinfeld, Drew Carey, Home Improvement, and Spin City. Now, the only good show is Law and Order (all 3 of them, which happen to be the best TV ever). Anybody else wish they would make some decent sitcoms?

Well, there are still good shows out there. 24 is starting this week, Alias started this week. Scrubs is about one of the funniest sitcoms around in my opinion.
But I know what you mean. And the networks must be loving it. Instead of paying the cast of friends a million each an episode. They can take a bunch of fat people, put them in a mansion for a month and see how much each one will lose. How much can that cost?? Anyways, seems like it is a fad that is getting to a pretty high peak at this point. I bet it drops drastically at some point. I also think at some point someone is going to get seriously injured on one of the more extreme reality shows. Then insurance rates will go through the roof, and then bye-bye to reality TV. |

I forgot to add that Scrubs is the only decent new sitcom.
I have no idea what I would do if it were not for three Law and Orders.

There's plenty of sitcoms still around: Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons, Bernie Mac to name some that spring right to mind. I'd even go to bat for Everybody Loves Raymond and the King of Queens, both shows are really held together by their hilarious supporting cast.
Then there's Ali G, Southpark, Reno911, The Daily Show, Trailer Park Boys, Penn&Teller's Bullshit... all funny and mostly fake, if not quite sitcoms. You also got your not so good, but still around sitcoms. All TGIF, that show with Jamie Gertz married to the fat guy, Quadruplets, Malcolm in the Middle, all the UPN sitcoms, etc. Part of the bigger picture is there's alot more TV around now then 10 or 15 years ago. Major networks run new shows year round, there's three 'sweeps' months now, FOX, UPN & WB all air many more first run shows and ofcourse Cable/satalite stations. Given the 'cheap to produce' nature or reality TV, they do indeed fill out alot of the air waves. There is good reallity btw. Joe Schmo, Wife Swap, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance are all fun. |

I especially hate how TLC and Discovery are nothing but reality shows. No more good shows on science, now its trading spaces and monster garage. I used to always find something good on one of those stations, now I rarley even check. Heck, I rarely watch TV at all now because it is nothing but the stupid reality shows. I can't wait until this passes. Just my opinion.
