24: The Fourth Day

24 has been my favourite show since it started. Jack Bauer is an awesome badass. (Wow, do I ever sounds like a pimply fanboy :))

The new season starts in a few days and I have been looking around the Internet trying to get some kind of a scoop on that the plotline is about this year. However, since it has a 2 character title it's nearly impossible to find anything with Google (same goes for 'er').

So other than the fact that some muslim groups are upset about being portrayed as terrorists again, has anyone heard what is going on?

**Mark your spoilers please**

cyrnel 01-04-2005 01:46 PM

Hey, no spoilers! I'm still downloading season 2! :)

Plot: Someone discovers a conspiracy to destroy the state/country/world/universe, and Jack Bauer is the only one who can stop it, and he only has 24 hours to do an insane amount of things.

;)

We'll see if I'm wrong :D

Booray 01-04-2005 08:07 PM

I'll go ahead and spoiler tag everything I've found about it.

Spoiler: From ew.com: "An explosion on a commuter train sets off another tough day at the office for Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), who has been fired from CTU and is now working for the secretary of defense (William Devane) and secretly dating the secretary's daughter (Kim Raver). Didn't his experience with Nina teach him about combining business and romance? For more on that lesson, see Alias, above. (Fox, 8-10 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10; regular time period, Mondays, 9-10 p.m.)"

Spoiler: Also from ew.com: "

Arnold Vosloo is best known for playing the tightly wrapped ancient Egyptian villain in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, but when he joins the cast of 24, he'll play a rebel without a gauze. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the South African actor will play a terrorist leader plotting against the United States throughout the upcoming season, which launches Jan. 9.

Vosloo joins a largely new cast on the Fox drama, including House of Sand and Fog stars Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jonathan Ahdout (again playing a Middle Eastern mother and son; Witchblade's Nestor Serrano completes the family as Aghdashloo's husband, a Middle Eastern businessman); Knots Landing's William Devane as the Secretary of Defense, who is terror fighter Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) new boss; and Third Watch alumna Kim Raver as the defense secretary's daughter and Jack's love interest.

The new season of 24 begins Sunday, Jan. 9, with a double-length episode covering two hours of Jack Bauer's newest day of misery. Then, on Jan. 10 — Monday, 24's regular slot — two episodes covering hours 3 and 4 will air."

This two is my favorite show. The wife and I have waited until the seasons DVD's have come out and bought all 3 so far. Then we end up watching them in about 4 days, and man is my tail tired of sitting on the couch after those 4 days ;)

I'll skip on reading the spoilers for now. I'll figure you have watched through Season 3 which is over, so it isn't a spoiler anymore. If you haven't, don't read on.

How much time will pass between this and the last 24? Will Kim and Chase still have a relationship? Will Chase still have an arm? So is Tony really going away for 20 years, or maybe even the death penalty? Will Jack still be using drugs?

Here's a problem I had with season 3. It didn't continue well from Season 2. The whole president hand poison thing was sort of thrown away. And Jack's female relationship was covered with about a 30 second scene and she was gone... I don't know, if they just drop Kim and Chase, and Tony and Michelle, I think it would be lame. They kill off so many people in this show you are afraid to get attached to any...

But I love it, can't wait for this season. Not sure if I will watch, or buy the DVD's when the season is over ;)

Isn't that why it's such a compelling show besides the time constraints?

If you do like the messing with the stars of the shows, check out MI-5 on A&E or Spooks in the UK. Excellent show.

Wow, Fark was actually good for something, I found a link to this bit of info from http://bacontastesgood.blogspot.com/: (Minor Spoilers)
Quote:

Jack Bauer is back for Season 4 of Fox's 24 titled "Season 4 - Instinct Never Dies" (sounds like a Bond movie to me). The show will start on Sunday, Jan. 9 with a two-hour premiere. Jack isn't at CTU and doesn't do field work field anymore ("I could've joined other agencies if I still wanted to work in the field, but I didn't") and has a new significant other, the daughter of the Secretary of Defense (played by Third Watch'salways-hot Kim Raver). VERY sorry to say that President Palmer and Jack's daughter Kim are no longer listed as season regulars and I've heard NO rumors about any guest shots. The slimey VP from last season is the new President, so we can assume a couple of years have passed and that Palmer followed through with his decision (last year, he told Jack that he had decided not to run for President again in the wake of Sherry's death). Tony Almeida's character is set to return (he was being dragged off to prison when we last saw him) but the status of his HOT wife is unknown. CTU's new supervisor Erin Driscoll doesn't want Jack around, but it appears he is drawn back to CTU by unforeseen circumstances. Chloe, Jack's mousy and annoying assistant from last year (who I kept hoping would be killed off last year) is still at CTU and helps Jack.

GREATEST SHOW EVER

Church 01-09-2005 06:02 PM

GREATEST SHOW EVAR

Jus got done watching the first two hours, and it's gonna be a good season. Don't plan on missing any shows...you'll miss a lot. Ever since I found this show, late in Season 1, I've only missed a few shows. I bought Season 1 on DVD, and now must obtain Seasons 2 & 3. Probably the best show going right about now, even if they do take some liberties with the time. I would guess that FX's "The Shield" is just as good, almost. I've watched a few of those, and like 'em.

1slOwCD8 01-09-2005 07:43 PM

Exciting episodes so far. I cant wait till tomorrow. So is its regular schedule gonna be mon or sun?

MacGuyver 01-09-2005 08:31 PM

its new time slot will be on mondays, im gonna guess at 9 oclock est. but i dont know tomorrow is another two episode deal that starts at 8 pm est.

Mephisto2 01-09-2005 11:36 PM

Personally I can't understand the popularity of this show.

I like Kiefer Sutherland as an actor, but I would have thought the concept was just a bit old. How many bad days can one guy have?

Mr Mephisto

MacGuyver 01-09-2005 11:53 PM

I think the thing is, it's more than just Kiefer. It's more than just one guy's bad day. It encompasses alot more than that. It's hard to explain, but don't knock it til you try it.

And if you've tried it, well... I guess I'm gonna go away.

ElwoodBlues 01-10-2005 12:57 AM

wow. I can't wait to see how the rest of this season plays out. Amazing

crossova 01-10-2005 07:22 AM

First two episodes = wow!

Since Kim is apparently not going to be there this season, is Debbie going to replace her. B/c this girl is so dumb

the_marq 01-10-2005 07:34 AM

Man I was cheering when Jack broke in and started "interrogating" that guy. Awesome episode last night, can't wait for the next one.

Frosstbyte 01-10-2005 08:52 AM

"WHAT IS YOUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE?!?"

I love it. I have high hopes for this season after a little disappointing season three, but, if the episodes last night are any indication, it's going to kick some serious ass.

That being said, I miss me my Kim and David Palmer. Ah well.

yeah! But my whole family was dying w/ laughter when he shot him in the leg and he gave up the info real quick. My mom said, "I thought they were supposed to die for their cause. One gunshot and already he snitching."

lol

blitz.fenix 01-10-2005 09:15 AM

OMG I can't believe I missed the first 3 seasons of this show! This show is so great geez! I've turned into a fanboy after watching the first two shows of the new season and I can't wait 6 hours until the next two start!

wondash 01-10-2005 10:57 AM

Day 3 was so bad, I decided to stop watching.

kutulu 01-10-2005 11:24 AM

I'll watch every episode but it's more because everything else on TV sucks. I'm tired of Jack's 'extreme' interrogation methods. It's so predictable. I knew right away that he'd shoot the guy, I just didn't know where he would.

He also pressed the hot barrel of the gun into the fresh wound... OUCH.

Well so far this would be his fourth... how many have you had?

Just to clarify in case you didn't know this, there are 24 episodes because there are 24 hours in a day. Each episode being one hour of that day, so we are now on his fourth bad day. Also, the days aren't consecutive in Jack's life.

I know. I just don't have the patience to watch 24 episodes.

Mr Mephisto

loonatic8her 01-10-2005 05:28 PM

Ok... yet another season... I was kinda skeptical when I heard they were continuing the Show. But wow... blew me away with the first two episodes and as I type I am watching 3 and 4. I think the guys writing this shit must be on some kind of mind alterting substance because this stuff is "on the edge of your seat" for an entire episode at a time....

Only thing is Kelly and her sexy self... gonna miss her!

FailedEagle 01-10-2005 07:59 PM

This show is so amazing . . . words can't describe.

ElwoodBlues 01-10-2005 10:27 PM

The two episodes tonight absolutely blew me away. Damn, that convenience store holdup. Ballsy

indigochild111 01-10-2005 10:38 PM

This show kicks some serious ass!! I *LOVE* it. And how can you say season 3 was a disappointment???

kutulu 01-11-2005 11:01 AM

It's disappointing because it's become way too predictable. I'd really like it if they let the "renegade" aspect of it drop. I'd be much happier if CTU just supported his 'crazy' methods instead on the constant 'you went too far this time'

It just makes the show cheesy.

It still entertains me and I'll watch the whole season, but it is predictable and cheesy nonetheless.

blitz.fenix 01-11-2005 04:55 PM

This may sound stupid but...Does he sleep during the 24 hours?

McG 01-11-2005 08:45 PM

Since this show is in "real time", you should skip the middle 8 episodes where he is sleeping. It gets kinda boring after 4 hours of it.

Church 01-11-2005 09:24 PM

He pull's an all nighter when national security is at stake. :p

After last night's episode certainly looks like CTU is going to support Jack so long as he gets results.

Now we know what the rest of the season is going to be about anyway. We knew all along it was going to be Nukes or Bio-Terror. I am glad they went the way they did.

indigochild111 01-25-2005 08:13 PM

::::Sigh::::: I am in love with the character of Jack Bauer. Seriously. He kicks so much ass. Hopefully someday I can kick that much ass :-D

Moskie 01-25-2005 08:51 PM

I second that, Jack totally kicks major ass. I love the scenes where he turns into a robot super soldier, nailing the baddies left and right.

I liked this past episode. Sometimes I feel that the show kills off characters too soon and too often, so I was happy to see the middle-eastern kid survive through at least another episode. I guess the show has to prove that his good ole fashioned American Values (tm) will save the day.

And how about the action scene as they were rescuing the secretary of defense?! That was some edge-of-your-seat Hollywood level stunts going on there. I can't think of another TV show that's come anywhere near to the quality of that scene.

I could rant a bunch more about the show... but i'll just say that i can't wait till next week.

1slOwCD8 01-25-2005 09:02 PM

What do you guys think about Chloe? You think shes gonna be gone for good, or somehow come back to help CTU out when theres something only see can do? I think shell probably come back to help Jack in some way.

I think somehow she'll be the one that figures out that Marianne is up to no good.
