Hero
They had a trailer for this movie at the beginning of Kill Bill Vol. 2. I personally think it looks great, but thats just me. Looks at least as good as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
Heres a link for the trailerhttp://www.herothemovie.com/trailer/index.htm |

I've seen this film already and I was dissappointed at the trailer int the theatere because in my opinion it builds the film up to be something that it isn't. It really is a good film, one of Jet Li's better films since Lethal Weapon 4, but the trailer just doesn't give a real sense of what it is about imo.

It was already in the theateres here in germany and I think its a great movie. I would rate it better than crouchting tiger, hidden dragon.
but of course you need to like the "chinese movie style"

glad to hear that it's had a wide release since it's one of the best movies imo. I too find it to be way better than Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon because of the story, the incredible fight scenes and the overall use of colour/effects in the symbolism.

I've had the DVD for over 2 years now. I thought the movie was incredibly boring and prententious. I can't believe they're justing bringing it over it here, not to mention edited. Editing it isn't going to make it any less boring or prententious. Just like Shaolin Soccer, Hero isn't going translate well for American audiances.

Ok..I saw this like a year ago. It's not that great, a bunch of flashbacks makes the story really confusing.
All I can say is Jet Li had lost his touch since "Romeo Must Die".....dammit...

The trailer looked cheesy as shit. It really, seriously looked like DragonBallZ shit. It was god-awful. Then I saw it was from the same people who did Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And then it was worse.

It was very well filmed, but not exactly the same as crouching tiger hidden dragon. It's more of an artsy film with less of the action/martial arts. Another movie that just came out that is very similar to courching tiger hidden dragon is House of Flying Daggers. Out right now in the indie theaters around here.

bigd999, please give spoiler warnings when talking about a movie's ending and the fate of main characters, most especially when its not in a thread about that movie. I had no idea I'd see a massive Man on Fire spoiler in a thread about Hero.
You can either just type out SPOILERS! around it or put [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] (without the spaces) around that part and it will white it out unless you want to see it.

From the cinematography point of view, this is one of the best ever done. If you like Hero, you will probably like The House of Flying Daggers.
For hardcore wu-shu/kung fu buffs (like myself), I'd stick with Jet Li's earlier films. Such as the Once Upon A Time In China series, The Legend, etc. Aside Jet Li, Donnie Yen, almost none of the other stars in the films had any real martial arts training but they move quite well in my opinion. |
