Batman Begins Trailer

Ok, I really wasn't looking forward to the movie until I saw this trailer. It seems the Batman franchise has gone back to its dark roots....

Penis? Hmmm, mayhaps I need a vacation.

viper11885 12-14-2004 11:39 PM

Just saw the trailer today.. Movie looks awesome. Can't wait for it this summer.

Booray 12-15-2004 05:53 AM

Just saw the trailer before Ocean's 12 on Monday. Looks great!

I don't see how anyone could have NOT been looking forward to this one. Christopher Nolan directed it and Christian Bale stars and they've been talking about how dark this one would be for a while.

Charlatan 12-15-2004 06:56 AM

Wow... Qui-Gon Jinn lives!

Only 6 months and 2 days left before I can see this.

dobster 12-15-2004 12:34 PM

uhm Delete!!

dobster 12-15-2004 12:35 PM

I ran the trailer at the same time as this game - http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=78429

Very surreal!

mikeylips 12-15-2004 01:36 PM

I have to say when I first heard about this movie I was skeptical. The photo stills on the website of the Batmobile made me think "wtf". However I also haven't read the comics that the story and the Batmobile are supposedly based off of. After seeing the trailer and reading the preview in Game Informer for the upcoming game based off the movie I have to say I am extremely excited for this movie. Trailer was awesome!

Willravel 12-15-2004 01:49 PM

If you are new to the real batman, I suggest reading the "Legends of the Dark Knight" graphic novels. They will give you an idea of what batman is supposed to be in this movie. Deeply distrubed from remorse and regret about his parents, arguabally driven to the brink of madness, he is part antisocial, part dissasociative disorder, part bipolar, etc. It gives a very fresh (back in the 80s) look and feel to batman, serving to break the ties between batman from the old tv series type and from today.

blitz.fenix 12-15-2004 02:10 PM

I really don't like that batmobile. But I am looking forward to this movie. Scarecrow is the villiam IIRC.

shadowalker 12-15-2004 02:28 PM

I am praying that "That Batmobile" is going to one of a few that he has in the movie, much like the batboat, or bathang-glider, and that being the ATB all terran batmobile.

Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul.

yellowgowild 12-15-2004 03:29 PM

I agree with all of the people who hate the batmobile, but to me this is another example of how far the designers were willing to go to prove this movie won't be like the other neon-Las Vegas-raver crap that was made before it.

The scenes with Bruce Wayne making the Batsuit on his own really drives it home. It says many things about the man at one time...He's intelligent, driven, and has inner demons. I always wondered how he could keep his identity a secret if he had all his equipment outsourced....

Oh, and Gary Oldman rocks.

Well, personally, I liked the two Tim Burton Directed... But the others left something to be desired... Like acting, quality and decent script-writing...

yellowgowild 12-15-2004 06:23 PM

Tim Burton was good with the first Batman. But #2? not so good....

Booray 12-15-2004 06:27 PM

The cast for this is pretty damn good too:

Christian Bale .... Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine .... Alfred Pennyworth
Liam Neeson .... Henri Ducard
Morgan Freeman .... Lucius Fox
Gary Oldman .... Lt. James Gordon
Ken Watanabe .... Ra's Al Ghul
Katie Holmes .... Rachel Dawes
Cillian Murphy .... Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow
Tom Wilkinson .... Carmine Falcone
Rutger Hauer .... Richard Earle

Powerful cast. Looks good from my perspective. I liked the first two movies the rest were crap.

HOW DARE YOU?!? I loved Batman Forever, the cartoonish camp-fest that it was!

Moskie 12-15-2004 08:26 PM

I can't begin to explain how hyped I am about this movie. It looks dark, intelligent, psychological... the comic book geek in me grows a big rubbery one whenever i watch these trailers :D

lk_3000 12-15-2004 09:12 PM

Finally a new comic movie that is not from the marvel world. i can't wait until its released in theaters.

HeAtHeN 12-15-2004 09:18 PM

I want the campy Batman made into a movie :)

I'm looking forwards to this one though.

Sparhawk 12-19-2004 08:05 PM

A throwback to the original movie - and that is nothing if not good! Think we'll see Bale in that upside-down hanger contraption that Keaton was sleeping in back in the original?

K-Wise 12-20-2004 02:25 AM

Sweet...and they got that dude from 28 days later playing the Scarecrow??!! I can't wait to see what he's gonna look like...Scarecrow is one of my fave lookin villians in Batman. How many a ya'll liked the cartoon "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" ??? I for one thought it was pretty cool I thought Phantasm kicked ass would be cool to see that in movie format as well. But then again...I was still rather young when I saw it so that could be why I thought it was cool..I still thought most cartoons were cool back then heh.

Asta!!

scott_p_1 12-20-2004 07:00 AM

I saw the trailer yesterday too, and I'm also actually looking forward to it now.

Glad to see The Scarecrow in it, he could make for a pretty freaky ass movie.

Whaaaaaat? You're crazy. The second was just as dark as the first, if not more..

It's the third that started the downward spiral of crap.

Guthumba 12-20-2004 08:48 AM

This may be blasphemy but I really didn't care for any of the Batman movies to this point. That said, I'm looking forward to Batman Begins...I suspect Christopher Nolan won't give us anything less than 110%.

whocarz 12-20-2004 05:18 PM

Batman with ninjas. What the hell took so long?

wolf 12-20-2004 05:50 PM

Nice, I actually like the darker Batman. The happy go lucky Batman pisses me off. The comics are more dark.

bigd999 12-20-2004 09:44 PM

omfg, that looks so awesome. I cant wait!!

Love Christian Bale too, hope he dosent dissapoint

sinjien 12-23-2004 12:01 AM

I think we all agree that the first 2 were good (well, the first one definitely; and Michelle did make a good catwoman). I just hope that this movie goes back to what made Batman so intriguing - the darkness and his ability to appear out of the shadows. I hated all of the colors in those crappy sequels. I want fog; black nights; long, over-exagerated shadows; and no f@#king sun!!! Give me that with a kickass Batman and we have a movie.

thecoldone33 12-23-2004 12:57 AM

I actually think that the recent Batman movies were pretty good (Batman & Robin, Batman Forever). If you dont come into it thinking its going to be the best superhero movie of all time you'll leave liking it better.

I'm afraid you just opened yourself up to be ripped apart by the wolves....
Please be gentle with him people.

gonad 12-23-2004 04:55 AM

Happy post:

The trailer looks badass. Christian Bale, Good. Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, even better. It does look darker, which is the way it should be. Batman is a little fucked up in the head, just like you would expect anyone who watched their parents die right in front of them at a young age to be. Excited I am.

Angry post:

If it weren't for Michael Keaton I would denounce both the first two Batman movies as the biggest silver-screen dissapointments I've ever seen in my life. Tim Burton was a horrible choice for those films. I won't even dignify the other two by mentioning them further.
