I'm trying to remember the name of a comedian who I remember catching on "Evening at the Improv" a few times quite a while back.

The guy would do his routine decked out in a trench coat and hat looking like Sam Spade or some other private eye straight out of some classic 40's film noir. I think he smoked while on stage too. He delivered all of his lines very dryly and never laughed (pretty much staying in the "detective" persona the whole time).

My dad, who doesn't enjoy much stand-up material he sees, happened to catch the guy on there a couple of times too and always mentions how funny he thought he was. I was trying to figure out who he was so I could maybe find some material on video that I could give to my dad.

Anyone remember seeing someone like this and have any idea what his name might be?

I tried various google searches trying to figure it out with no success.
