I thought of putting this in music but it's a movie so technically it should belong here right? So I'm watchin t.v. last night pretty late and I hear Green Day talking about their influences on American Idiot (Streetcar Named Desire, Ziggy Stardust, the movie Tommy, etc.) and people asking them if they want to do an "American Idiot" movie. Billy said "I think it's a great idea I'd love to do it." He sounded sincere and serious when he said that. He also kind of jokingly said "Whatever they do I just hope they get Johnny Depp to play ME!" Now is this shit for real? Are they trying to make a rock musical like "Tommy" among others? If so could be good...could be shit...I'm leaning towards good though cause I'm trying to be optimistic. So is there any info about this on their website or something? I'm sure people will wanna know.

they've been talking about it since it came out, but i haven't heard of any actual plans existing yet. i hope it does happen though, i'm sure any movie with the wit that was always present in their videos would be great

I think it could work out. Throughout the Cd characters were established in chapters. The cd was great to me and i think greenday is band that has grown and their influences have shown through greatly in the past couple of years. Im glad that they keep trying new things and if anyone in rock from our generation could have a shot at making a decent movie i think its greenday.
