Cable Guy
Why does everyone hate The Cable Guy so much?
I mean it was a pretty solid movie, it wasn't the best script every but it was pretty freakin' funny, at least I thought, and everyone else it seems in the world are like "Not funny", "Jim Carrey's worst" etc. Now I don't know, but im pretty sure Earth Girls are Easy was a pretty bad movie. Anyways I still enjoy it whenever I watch it. |

I absolutely LOVED IT! Next to D&D it's my favourite Carrey flick.
The reason why the audience response was so poor was because everyone was just fresh off seeing Carrey in stuff like Ace Ventura and they wanted to see that same stupid goofy act again - but it wasn't. It was black comedy. It wasn't stretchy faces and stuff. I think it was great. The karaoke scene with him singing "Somebody To Love" is classic, and everyone loves the 'prison rules' basketball scene, or the Medieval Times meal scene. "I gave you free cable..."

I loved it. Probably my favorite Jim Carrey movie that I've seen. I also liked The Majestic, which everone else hated.
I haven't seen Eternal Sunshine... but I'm sure I'd love that as well. I hate all Jim Carrey comedy movies. I don't think he's funny at all.

You're a walking contradiction, Averett. Cable Guy is a comedy, and your favourite Jim Carrey film, and yet you hate all Jim Carrey comedies, and you don't think he's funny...???!?!?! Back to the chalkboard with that thought process... Dumb and Dumber and Cable Guy are undeniably hilarious...

I don't like Jim Carrey - I'm going to make a funny face and fall down and stuff - movies. Fell asleep watching Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber is just that - dumb, Ace Ventura and the sequal, yack. Just not my thing. But I do like when he tones it down. The Cable Guy wasn't a typical comedy. I'd barely even call it a comedy movie. That's why I liked it. It was subtle. He didn't have to shove something up his nose to make the joke. Get what I'm sayin?

I'm gonna have to quote that because its true Dumb and Dumber is great, Cable guy, as I said a solid movie, it wasn't his usual brand of comedy which is probably why i liked it. I mean it was in essence Jim Carrey, but the script was comedic gold. The Majestic was pretty good too, I enjoyed it a lot. Eternal Sunshine was really good too. So I guess people all don't hate the Cable guy. Maybe just where I live people are like "Ace Ventura or Bust" and thats not an actual quote, althought im sure i'd laugh if someone said it... |

Great fucking movie. So many good lines. And Carrey's lisp in the movie just tops it all off.
"Can you skootch over just a tad?" Ha, hilarious!

I thought Cable Guy was great. I always wondered why it got bashed myself. I guess it was because it's not a typical JC movie. D&D is by far my fav though.

Cable Guy is hands down an amazing movie! The fight scene at Medieval Times is incredible, the shrieking noise Jim Carrey makes throughout is great.
Cable Guy was written by Ben Stiller, for those that don't know...it is definitely his type of humor! "The password is....nipple"
