Good PG-rated movies

I just started working in a video store (can you say, "free rentals"?) and while we are working we get to watch movies. I thought that would be awesome, but you can only watch PG and G movies. If you guys could give me some suggestions that would be great.

oh I love movies!

How about Any Chevy Chase? The Griswolds are hilarious. National lampoons, family vacation, christmas vacation, european vacation are all classics.

How about Ben Stiller? Meet the parents and something about marry are quite funny flicks.

How about Terry Gilliam? Okay so a few are rated R, but his movies are awesome.

How about Johnny Depp? Pirates of the Carribean I feel is an instant classic.

How about Tim Robbins? The Shawshank Redemption is great. So is the Hudsucker Proxy. very funny. Mission to mars is also good. which reminds me of the other movie about the red planet. Red Planet. that one is pretty good too.

there are lots and lots of good G rated or PG movies

Some of the movie "classics", The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, soooo many wonderful movies - all are unrated... but no way would be R rated.

The original Cape Fear is also unrated (I beleive) or North by Northwest, the Manchurian Candidate -- I could go on and on... definitely worth seeing.

A lot of the old classic comedies would be a good work watch.
The Marx Brothers movies
Abbott and Costello movies
Arsenic and Old Lace.
A lot of great Westerns aren't rated.

Oh, yes, Malficient, the Maltese Falcon is great, classic Peter Lorre, there. It might be hard to keep kids interested in the Manchurian Candidate and Treasure of... though.

All of the "Thin Man" series with William Powell and Mirna Loy are excellent, too. Most of the earlier detective mystery genre are short enough and have enough going on that kids will watch, too.

You betchum, Red!

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were a dance team extraordinaire.
Some of their best movies were:
Top Hat
Shall We Dance
Swing Time

While I'm talking about weird and quirky movies, I would also highly suggest Rubin and Ed by highly ignored Utah director Trent Harris. My cat can eat an entire watermelon.

Other good G or PG movies are:Hmm...that's all that comes to mind now, but I'll add in more when I have a little more time to think about it.

I have a copy of the DVD. The method for getting it is a bit convoluted. Also, see http://www.shubs.net/wizard/ . Note: that URL is exclusive to TFP for the moment. Please don't spread it around.

Just thought of one I loved as a kid - CONDORMAN!
It's pretty cheesy for today, but I loved the spy-superhero aspect of the movie when I was a kid.
And you gotta love cane-guns.
