They better bring back Q though...

Q will be making his comeback in Bond 22, althought John Cleese may not be playing the part. We'll have to wait and see. The riffing back and fourth between Q and Bond will be greatly reduced.

Sir Sean Connery is considering turning a novel by an Edinburgh author into a Hollywood blockbuster - reports The Scotsman.

The former James Bond actor, who earlier this week said he did not want to act again, has been in contact with Ken McClure about bringing his controversial novel The Gulf Conspiracy to the big screen.

Connery, who has been an executive producer on such blockbusters as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Finding Forrester, Entrapment, The Rock and Just Cause, may even take on the behind the scenes role for the new movie.

The Gulf Conspiracy is a fictional thriller which centres on the theory that vaccinations were responsible for the development of Gulf War Syndrome.

Vincent Finlayson, Dr McClure's business manager, has been in contact with the Oscar-winning actor about the project.

This is amazing. I know it isn't DIRECTLY connected to James Bond, but comon, Sir Sean Connery is James Bond. It's been quite a while since Sir Sean reportedly retired from showbiz, and many fans - including yours truely - had all but given up hope. I'm glad we might be able to see Sean Connery grace the silver screen again.

NotAnAlias 04-16-2006 06:51 PM

I adored Layer Cake, and i think that Daniel Craig is the best choice - he's going to bring an element of darkness to the film, but he won't lose any of that sophistication.

I'm biased though, i get all wet over dark films :P But yeah, this will be the first bond film i will see in the cinemas since Tomorrow Never Dies.

Casino Royale International Trailer (France)
I'll translate from French to English and several other languages in a bit.
Available for DL here

Enjoy. ...

Edit: BTW, MASSIVE SPOILER

Willravel 05-02-2006 07:05 PM

The above trailer is NOT the official trailer for the film, but it is a prelim trailer rumored to be created by Bond producers that was intentionally leaked to French and Danish TV to test the market. The official trailer is still going to be released with The DaVinci Code (the only reason I'm going to see The DiVinci Code).

The OFFICIAL teaser trailer (in english). The official site launches in 16 days.

djflish 05-04-2006 04:37 AM

That certainly was a teaser! This is my most anticipated movie ever.
I'm a fan of Daniel Craig and I think he's an awesome choice, the producers have taken a gamble picking him, and by the looks of that trailer, its going to pay off.

Willravel 06-22-2006 02:55 PM

So did anyone see the AFI Lifetime Acheivment Award last night? Sir Sean Connery has been, is, and always shall be the man. 76 years old in about a month, and dancing on stage to bagpipes in front of thousands of people in the audience, and hundreds of thousands at home. I hope they re-aire it sometime in the near future for those who might have missed it.

I'm quite excited about this movie. Going back to James Bond's first adventure as a 00. Daniel Craig doesn't really LOOK like James Bond, but maybe thats exactly what is needed. Though I love it, the franchise suffers from being too corny at times. I have a feeling this will straighten it up like Die Another Day attempted to do. Shame about that fucking ice castle.

If you read the Ian Fleming novels, you can see very quickly that while James has a sense of humor, there are none of the corny and played out cliches. These are mystery novels that rely on excellent characters, inspired storylines that include uncanny knowledge of the world of international espionage, and sensual love scenes and tension. The movies drifted away from that long ago and really never made it back. From Russia with love is probably the best interpretation of the novel so far.

Shame that Halle was wearing thick leather in ice water instead of a t-shirt.

Ladies and gentelmen, Willravel is proud to present the FULL TRAILER for CASINO ROYALE. Enjoy.

Ch'i 09-07-2006 05:30 PM

I'm considering putting myself into a coma until it comes out in November.

Halx 09-07-2006 06:07 PM

This looks excellent. I am so ready.

Willravel 10-19-2006 09:59 AM

This just in: Chris Cornell, who will be performing the title sequence of Casino Royale, has put his song up on his myspace!!!

http://www.myspace.com/chriscornell

The song is titled: You Know My Name

Enjoy.

Lasereth 10-23-2006 07:10 PM

This movie looks amazing. I saw the latest trailer on apple.com and was blown away. Thankfully the series is going back to the GoldenEye director (which was the last good Bond movie if ya ask me).

guthmund 10-24-2006 07:21 PM

Thanks for the links, Will.

I had no idea that Cornell was tapped for the title sequence. Good stuff.

I have to say, the movie looks pretty good and I'm looking forward to it.

paddyjoe 10-29-2006 06:24 AM

I am so ready for this one! Great link Will, thanks man!!!

snowy 11-04-2006 11:36 PM

I keep seeing the previews on TV and every time I get so excited. I was going to try and wait a week after it comes out so I could go and see it with my brother, but I don't think that's likely to happen!

Now to find out if there is a midnight show...

Willravel 11-09-2006 03:18 PM

The crane sequence from the upcoming Casino Royale has just been posted on iFilm. Warning: spoilers.

Enjoy.

Redjake 11-13-2006 09:24 AM

100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's obviously only a handful of reviews, but 100% at any time in a movie's release is a great thing.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/casino_royale/

Willravel 11-15-2006 06:47 PM

I've got my tickets. I can barely stand. 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's 2 days before the movie.

Lasereth 11-15-2006 07:07 PM

Jesus 93% on rottentomatoes. A heavy sample size too. If it stays above 90% I'll be amazed. I want to see this so badly.

Redjake 11-16-2006 04:16 AM

Went up to 94%. YES!!!!!

I can't tell anyone on this board how excited I am to see this movie.

Ch'i 11-16-2006 02:15 PM

T minus nine hours and forty-five minutes.

4:16 AM Redjake?! You must be exited.

Can't really blame you though. I've been ready for this movie for six months.

Psst....he's in North Carolina. That means it was 7:16 AM.

Ch'i 11-16-2006 03:26 PM

Damn, that means he gets to see it before us.

Gilda 11-16-2006 09:05 PM

I'll be seeing it at the 1:20 showing tomorrow. What's that you say? Don't I have a class to teach at 1:00? No, my TA has a class to teach. It's Bond day, baby!

I've had my tickets for days, going tonight, so you have my bessing....besides, isn't that what TAs are for?

snowy 11-16-2006 10:57 PM

I've got tickets for the 7pm show tomorrow night since I don't get off work till 5:30. Afterwards, though, we're having a Bond-themed cocktail party :)

Willravel 11-17-2006 02:54 AM

I'd like to personally thank everyone involved in the making of Casino Royale for finally and truely realizing Ian Fleming's dream in creating a true James Bond. This is Bond.

This is the first time I've given a movie a 10/10, but it deserves one.

So it was great?? Pray tell!!!!!!

Charlatan 11-17-2006 08:46 AM

It's Friday night here and I have just returned from what was the best Bond movie in years (perhaps ever).

I am very (very!) pleased with this film. It is the film that I wanted them to make when they finally ditched Roger Moore. It is the film that Dalton or Brosnan could have made but the producers didn't have the courage to make.

It turns out my office is treating the entire staff to an afternoon screening of the film on Monday. I am going to see this a second time.

I will hold off the discussions of the minutiae until more have had a chance to see it...

All I will say is I can't wait until the next one. I want to see where they go with it.

Redjake 11-17-2006 09:02 AM

Oh man, this is great....I can't WAIT to see it tonight...

snowy 11-17-2006 10:20 AM

Man...getting through work today is going to be really really hard.

I was completely blown away by this movie, and couldn't agree more.

Halx 11-17-2006 10:28 AM

!!!

I am gonna try to see it today after school.

djflish 11-17-2006 11:04 AM

I just bought the book today, I'm gonna read it before I go see it.
I don't know why I'm on the net right now, the sooner I read it, the sooner I can go see it!

Gilda 11-17-2006 05:30 PM

My first viewing impression is that this is in the top three or four Bond movies, maybe even second only to From Russia With Love.

****

Val_1 11-17-2006 08:22 PM

I've got to admit, I had given up on Bond in the last few years. But, now I'm seriously reconsidering. Perhaps I need to check this out.

snowy 11-18-2006 02:19 AM

Holy crap, that was awesome. I saw it at about 7pm this evening, and afterwards we had a Bond-themed cocktail party. I am proud to say that everyone who saw the movie and attended said: "Holy crap, that was an awesome movie."

So gritty, and realistic...hard to believe it was really Bond, but truly amazing. My brother literally called me and said, "Oh my God."
