Favorite Comedian
I thought this was more appropriate here than in Tilted Humor, but do what you will...
I'd like everybody to list their favorite comedians/troupes; standup, writers, TV or movie personalities, or whatever! Try and limit your list to about 5 people. My favorites: Rodney Carrington (the original blue-collar comic) Matt Stone/Trey Parker (masters of juvenile-style satire) Monty Python, esp. John Cleese('nuff said) The Brothers Chaps (Homestarrunner.com guys. Most under-known comic geniuses ever) Mel Brooks

Woody Allen + Dave Barry. Splice their genes, and get some sort of super-human comic
genius. Woody Allen has been making consistently & awesomely funny movies since the mid 60s, and Dave Barry writes the most supreme WEEKLY humor column, and has been doing so since 1982. I don't think you can get better (and more absurd) than those two guys. |

sticking strictly to stand ups (as a whole list of funnymen would be farrrrrr too long)...I really enjoy Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Dane Cook, Louis CK, Dave Attell, Mitch Hedberg, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Eddie Izzard, Brian Regan, Todd Glass....and it goes on, but those are my top comedians off the top of my head
but just a few comedians not of the stand up variety (and some have done stand up, but gained more notoriety elsewhere)...Conan O'Brien, Will Ferrell, Jon Stewart, Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G), Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, Trey Parker and Matt Stone |

I have to go with Mitch Hedberg as my current favorite. Honorable mention to Lewis Black.
All time standup favorite has to be George Carlin. And let's not forget the king of schtick - Leslie Nielsen. Police Squad was the best short lived TV show ever, and it was all because of him. |

I'll never forget Eddie Murphy's impressions of Michael Jackson, James Brown, and "Buhwheat."

For standup, George Carlin. Just because we think so much alike (which is really scary).
Rodney Dangerfeild was also a very funny stand up. Much funnier than the other comedians of his age group.
