Mephisto2 10-19-2004 05:48 PM

Looks good.

I like the Mouth of Sauron.

Mr Mephisto

Mr.Deflok 10-19-2004 10:09 PM

I'm more keen on the Witch King scene, I've always wanted to see a shot like that where he says "This is my power!" and his sword lights up in flame.

Mephisto2 10-19-2004 10:38 PM

It will also be nice to see "closure" on Sauroman. It was a pity that story line was abandoned in the movie version.

Having all the other extended DVDs this one is probably the one I most anticipate!

MoonbatKillah 10-20-2004 07:44 PM

I'm kind of hoping that the extended edition redeems the final movie. I must say I thought ROTK was a let down, because of the abandonment of the characacter moments for the sake of the action. Not that I didn't like the action. I just thought the first two were stronger films. This is still on the shelf the day it hits stores.

divagrrrl 10-21-2004 08:55 AM

linky no workie for me.

KellyC 10-21-2004 12:13 PM

OMG OMG OMG OMG!! Everything looks so bad ass. I'm squealing like a little girl now...:D

jamessh1 10-21-2004 12:17 PM

holy crap. the link still worked for me (took a little time to load). I've never been big on buying DVD's but this is a must-have for me. I was always a little disappointed with the editing that cut some great scenes in the third film, and at least now we'll have a chance to see them. I would actually like them to re-release ROTK in theatres again this christmas, just to see it on the big screen.

saut 10-21-2004 03:00 PM

I wasn't going to buy it until seeing the trailer. Damn that loooks badass.

Minor gripe: I believe the Mouth of Sauron was a man, not an orc.

He is a man, but a wretched one, like the 9 Kings/Black Riders.

I thought the Mouth of Sauron referred to Sauron's magical ability to talk to people and have them obey his will even if they don't want to. I don't remember any physical mouthpiece for Sauron in that part of the book....

In the chapter "The Black Gate Opens" it says:

Quote:

The rider was robed all in black, and black was his lofty helm; yet this was no Ringwraith but a living man. The Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dur he was, and his name is remembered in no tale; for he himself had forgotten it, and he said 'I am the mouth of Sauron.'
Edit - I'm definitely looking forward to this coming out - already have the space for it next to vol1 and 2. Actually, I think the cinema version of the Two Towers disappointed me the most - it was also "too much action, not enough story".

Oops. I'm thinking of the Voice of Saruman. Sauron/Saruman....those always fucked me up.

joeyaz 10-25-2004 04:56 PM

Wow.. I've been waiting for this. I have the other two extended editions I was able to wait for the first two but this one seems to have taken forever. December can't come soon enough!

Gustoferson 10-27-2004 09:58 AM

Holy batcrap I've been waiting for this DVD since the movie came out in theaters. The mouth of Sauron looks a little different than what i pictured, but thats to be expected and i think it'll be easy to get used to. I'm just damn happy they put it in there, along with the healing halls and hopefully the best the witch king / gandalf confrenation. Hell, I wish for the extended edition they put in every story part imaginable.

In any case, this was a nice little tease and can't wait for this and all the other december dvd releases.

hmm, I might need to dig up the book... but from what i heard, and from what i remember... he says "This is my hour"

correct me if i'm wrong... or slap me silly if i'm being far too nitpicky

saut 10-27-2004 11:44 AM

I don't believe Gandalf had any confrontation with the Witch King in the book(s). It's been a while since I've read them though, I could be mistaken.

stevie667 10-27-2004 11:56 AM

Gandalf i believe had a mini-stand off with the witch king in the books at the main gate of Minas Tirith, after grond does some smashy smashy, but don't quote me.

That trailer looks sick (my brain can't be arsed to find a better word), i can't wait until the DVD comes out.

saut 10-27-2004 01:06 PM

I wonder if they'll show Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli (sans Elrond's sons) seize the corsairs of Umbar with the aid of the dead army.

I also really wish that the Numenorean prince (his name escapes me, but I think it starts with a "D", and I'm not sure that he was a Numenorean prince either actually) would be included at the seige of Minas Tirith, although I know we won't be seeing him or his company in the EE. Oh well.

Oh, another thing I would have liked to see -- Pippin and the Captain of the Guard.

Ooh, and also maybe a scene with Denethor and the palantir (I see there's an Aragorn/palantir scene in now, so maybe we'll get one with Denethor as well).

One last thought for now -- does anyone know if they'll be incluiding a statuette with some of the DVDs again? If so, what will they be? I've heard both Minas Morgul and Minas Tirith, but I'm not sure which, if either.

Giant Hamburger 10-27-2004 01:43 PM

The Mouth of Sauron is played by Bruce Spence.
He was the Gyro Pilot in the last two Mad Max movies.

onodrim 10-27-2004 01:56 PM

/me drools in anticipation.

I can't wait to complete my Extended DVD collection. I'm thinking once I have them all, I'll make a day out of it and watch them all in a row. :p
