DRUDGE REPORTED ON HIS SHOW CHRISTOPHER REEVE DIED TODAY (SUNDAY)

Listened to Matt Drudge on the way to get ciggies tonight and he announced a close source said actor Christopher Reeve died suddenly.

Said that his source (whom he interviewed on air but I missed) said that the family will be announcing it tomorrow/today Monday.

A very sad day, he was a great actor and one that you heard very little negative things about. I am sure he is riding horses and walking again in a better place.

Drudge was right, the man showed fire and true courage and did not let his disability stop him. He will be remembered for that more than his movies I am sure.

CHRISTOPHER REEVE 9/25/1952 - 10/10/2204 R.I.P.

Rest in peace, Chris.

He had a lot of heart for enduring 9 years of paralysis and never giving up, it takes massive courage to do that...he can now finally walk again. R.I.P

I keep replaying in my mind that super bowl commercial where he's finally able to walk again.

I don't know why this is hitting harder than other celebrity deaths. I guess it's because he always looked so positive when interviewed, and never bitter about anything. I want my childhood back. =(

I don't know, there's something chilling about hearing that Superman having passed away... makes us all aware of our own mortality. I've never heard ill word of Mr. Reeve in life, I doubt that in death that'll ever change.

GeePeeS'r 10-11-2004 02:31 AM

RIP Mr. Reeve.

May you walk now like never before.

Roark 10-11-2004 02:53 AM

I don't know how he did it to be honest he really was a superman seemingly always positive and a great role model. He will be missed

runtuff 10-11-2004 03:05 AM

RIP Superman: you will always be remembered.

Xiangsu 10-11-2004 08:31 AM

Is it just me or have we had a lot of celebrities taken from us this past year? I always liked Superman as a kid, Reeves was perfect for the role.

R.I.P.

His death definitely does seem more personal than that of other celebrity deaths. He was an inspiration to many and will be missed.

The news about his death came as a real surprise for me.

I loved the movie when I was a kid. I drove my dad crazy because I wanted to see it so many times. He would always grumble about having to keep paying for me to see the same damn movie over and over again.

When I got older, I think I realized what it was that made the movie so intriguing to me. I used to watch the old Superman t.v. show on Saturday mornings. George Reeves was good in the role, but he played with with an air of aloofness. Christopher Reeve brought to the part a humanity that few could have brought. His portrayal of Clark Kent - a bumbling doofus uncomfortable in his own skin - gave hope to dorks everywhere that we had the man of steel inside of us, too. He didn't play it as a comic book story, he played it as a human story.

He didn't become famous because he played Superman; he became famous because he played it perfectly.

I was always so certain that he would one day walk again. Most likely because he seemed so certain. His hope and determination will live on.

Coronaboy72 10-13-2004 01:26 AM

That was a shock because he was making such progress and thought for sure he would've jumped out of that wheelchair and walk again. This sucks... he was Superman dammit!
