just picked up the Daily show's book and...
anyone else get this yet, its freakin hilarious. From the foreword by Thomas Jefferson to the dress the naked Supreme court justices, I love this book. Although when I read it, I gotta say I hear John Stewarts voice in my head

I think part of value must come not only from hearing John Stewart's voice, but also from seriously imagining that this is your middle school social studies textbook. Attempt to ask your co-workers the discussion questions. Encouraging people to write reports based on the sidebars is probably going a little too far.

I guess I didn't find it too amusing because I fear the book the way I fear the show. People actually watch the Daily Show for their news. It's not a humorous supplement to the evening news or the paper to some people, it's all they watch. Many of these people don't realize that it's not the actual news. I guess I'm just worried people will further misinform themselves when they buy this book and read it without balancing it with actual information.
For the people who know it's all just a joke and get real news from elsewhere - go for it. |
