Gilmore Girls
The new season started, and I get the distinct feeling that the opening episode should have been aired at the end of last season. Maybe it was shot with that intention, but they decided to cut last season short by one episode to make it end on a cliff-hanger.
1) The episode includes Rory going off to Europe for the summer, and it looks like next week's show will jump way ahead to Fall. 2) It seems unusual to end the season in the middle of Lorelai's opening weekend at the Dragonfly, and during the middle of Kirk's odd sleeping habits. 3) The previews for next week's show clearly indicate everybody with different haircuts and looks, etc. Anybody else? By the way, this is my second-favorite show on TV, and I love all the obscure references that fly by in each episode. This would be a great show to work as a writer.

I sort of like it how they did that. Was all for the cliff-hanger.
I could have gone without seeing the Rory-Dean afterglow. I wanted to claw my eyes out. I hate them together, it's awful. The previews though.... Dean's wife finding a letter from Rory and going apeshit? Awesome!

I don't think they did it for the cliff-hanger. I do think that this episode was done to warm up new viewers who may never have seen GG before, so that they wouldn't be lost the first time they saw GG. Anyone could watch this episode and continue watching future episodes without feeling like they had missed a whole lot.
