Resident Evil 2 - September 10th
Anyone looking forward to this? When I first saw the trailer in the theatre I groaned because I thought it was yet another commercial, and then I heard "..from Umbrella Corporation" and my pants tented.

I was looking forward to this movie (I'm a HUGE resident evil fan) until I saw the last trailer where she jumps out of a sky scraper or something like that and is shooting something or doing some cheesy action scene. It just looked so stupid. I mean come on, jumping out of a skyscraper? How do you live through that? I don't know if I can bring myself to believe anything like that. That part in the trailer just had me groaning...
boy are they hot though

What's with Milla's pants? I was disappointed with the first movie. It had POTENTIAL but it wasted it. Bah.
I will, however, see this one, like the stupid consumer whore I am.

Sounds good. I've never played the games, so I'm missing out on half the experience.
I liked the first one, though.

I'm looking forward to this one big time, too. I do have a stupid question though, and that is who was the main character (Milla J.) in the first RE movie? I should know because I have the DVD, but I don't.

I really enjoyed the first RE -- it was as good as I could hope for a movie based on a shoot-em-up video game, and better than many comic-book-based movies.

The reason Milla's name is Alice in the first one is because of the Alice In Wonderland Reference's the movie makes. Notice things like the Red Queen and so on? Milla's character was made up.

The first one was great. I loved how it started... I love the music (done by Marilyn Manson).
The only thing I didn't quite like, or felt was very out of place, was that stupid computer system.. I wanted more zombies. The sequel looks amazing, however... I have this feeling they're gonna screw it up. I like the apocalyptic setting of the city.. perfectly matches the opening of a few RE games (2 and 3). Nemesis will be a nice addition. I wonder if it'll chase them throughout the entire movie like in part 3.. Zombies, need more zombies! Need more horror! BTW - anyone hear anything about the Silent Hill movie? It's being made, but.. no word yet on the story.

Never played the game much, but I do like zombie movies and cheesy action movies. I saw the trailer for this, and it looks cheesy, but the right kind of cheesy. I'm personally looking forward to some more hot Milla Jovovich zombie killing action.

saw it- in my defence it was the wifes turn to pick the movie- and she loves action movies with female leads- IT SUCKED- oh the pain, oh the cheese- someone make a good zombie movie- one where everyone does not do stupid things in lethal situations- one that does not suck
anyone for 29 days later or better yet a zombie movie without a quasi science reason- WTF i dont know, the dead just got up and want our brains.....

Well, it has like 20% on www.rottentomatoes.com and my buddy Ebert said the following:
Roger Ebert on RE: Apocalypse: "The movie is an utterly meaningless waste of time. There was no reason to produce it, except to make money, and there is no reason to see it, except to spend money. It is a dead zone, a film without interest, wit, imagination or even entertaining violence and special effects...Parents: If you encounter teenagers who say they liked this movie, do not let them date your children." I hated the first one and it looks like the second one is worse. Maybe other people can enjoy them, but I LOVE the RE games and I LOVE good movies. This isn't a good videogame movie and it's not a quality movie. Game OVER! -Lasereth

I can't believe I wasted my money on this pile of flaming shit.
All the characters seemed two-dimensional. I know it's based on a video game, but there has to be something for the audience to hold onto. The action was filmed in a way that doesn't let you see what's going on clearly. Also there's a little something called "transition" which is absent here. The sad thing is most of us gave our money to them. Now they'll make more movies like this. |

This piece of garbage is already out? I did not even know. The first one was pure and utter crap, a disgrace to horror movies and the videogame. Hollywood could not make a decent zombie movie if their lives depended on it. They should have let Romero do this like originally planned. Matrix bullshit does not belong in zombie movies. I hope this fails miserably at the box office and the director is banned from ever making another movie. I dont even have to watch it to know how much it sucks.

I agree about the matrix bullshit. When will the producers realize that no one is amazed by special effects anymore? If the effects aren't needed don't add them, and instead, spend more money on story and direction. As long as M. Night Shyamalan isn't involved everything will be better....

As previously said, as long as you can enjoy a movie for entertainment value of action you will enjoy this movie.
I loved the first one, and this one did exactly what I had hoped for. 7.5 / 10 Only part I did not like was the motorcycle scene, and when Alice fights Nemisis because they blur it so badly you are lost in the movement.

I've seen this movie twice, and I thought it was decent, as I did the first, I'm a huge fan of the games and Milla just kicks ass. Got from it what I expected.

I've seen two movies from the hack that directed this movie. The first RE and AvP. Both were crap. I then d/led a sample clip about a minute long for it and watched some monster shoot a minigun and rocket launcher at Milla as she jumped over a fence and off a police car as it exploded. That was enough for me thank you.

I liked the first movie because it had a good story, good gore and a goodlooking Milla. In apocalypse all the focus is on blowing stuff up and ''special effects'', Nemisis looks so beef up its surprising he could walk and Milla doesn't look so good...
