Shaun of the Dean NYC screening 8/19
For those of us in NYC, there will be a special advance screening of "Shaun of the Dead" on 8/19 sponsored by Fangoria.
http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=2646 I signed up today! Hopefully there is room on the list. I was going to add this to the Brit movies thread but thought it was timely enough to warrant a new thread. There have been some absolutely brilliant horror flicks made in Britain these past few years. Dog Soldiers, 28 Days Later and Shaun. Shaun is a horror comedy and I've heard some great stuff about it.

Believe me, everything you heard you heard is true! its one of the funniest films i've ever seen.
It's got quite a british sense of humour to it though, so im not sure how americans will find it. If you do find it funny though, you should check out the british sitcom 'Spaced'. Its written by and stars the same people from Shaun of the Dead. Its already a cult classic over here

I'm a bit of a zombie movie fan (more than a bit) and I thought this movie was amazing! It does make the Dawn remake pale in comparison.
Accents were a bit tough at times and I'm sure I missed a joke or two but this is one of the funnier movies I've seen in a LONG time and it is also a GREAT zombie flick. The acting was surprisingly good considering I've never seen any of them before (maybe they are well known in the UK?), the script was terrific...dripping with wit and sarcasm. The effects were darned nice too, better than those in Dog Soldiers. Most fun at the movies I've had in a while. [edit] to add articles and make it sound less like Charlie Chan wrote the post [/edit]
