Desperately Seeking Superman...
Having recently read about Warner Bros.' open casting call for an "All-American" type to play the Man of Steel in "Superman Returns", I had an idea of a new topic to go along with the subject of Superman in the movies.
I'd like to see how many films have mentioned Superman somewhere in the dialogue, no matter if it's just one throwaway line. Can you remember the names of any movies, and perhaps their stars? To get the most obvious out of the way... Superman - starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman, Marlon Brando, Glenn Ford, Ned Beatty, Susannah York, Jackie Cooper and Valerie Perrine Superman II " " Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran Superman III " " Richard Pryor, Annette O'toole and Robert Mitchum Superman IV: The Quest For Peace " " Mariel Hemingway And a movie I saw recently, "The Nostradamus Kid" - starring Noah Taylor and Miranda Otto. That's 5 so far. Give it a try yourself, please, and see how many you can name.

I believe in the first Spiderman, Aunt May says something along the lines of "You're not Superman you know." But I could be totally wrong.

Onodrim - You took my line! You are correct, just watched the movie again last night, and it was there.

In Batman Forever, Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer) mentions to Dick Grayson (Chris Connely) that he should be 'halfway to Metropolis by now'.
I always thought that was a nice nod (even though the movie sucked).

Kill Bill Volume 2. ok I just needed a reason to say I just watched Kill bill2 and it rocked more on DVD than it did in the theater
Batman and robin, Batman says something to the effect of "this is why superman works alone" and of course.. Mall rats! Brody: Lois could never have Superman's baby. Do you think her fallopian tubes could handle the sperm? I guarantee you he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back. second edit: I keep thinking of them. in Stand by me they compare mighty mouse to superman. I could keep going with this forever so I'll just quit.

The tinman says something about superman? I could have sworn Wizard of Oz is older than superman.

The Wizard of Oz opened in 1939. So, it's possible, but I don't know if it's true. He certainly wouldn't have been in the Baum book though.
