Favorite Evil Dead movie?
Well, we've already done Romero's dead trilogy.
Now which of these three fine pieces of gruesome work is your favorite? For me it has to be Evil Dead 2. It was in some ways an almost remake of Evil Dead, but with much improved visuals, and better characters, and much funnier.

Evil Dead 2, but just barely.
There may not be a more quotable film than Army of Darkness.

Army of Darkness, i feel, is the best of the films. However the ending that is in the "bootleg" vertion just sucks. THe theatrical ending is much better.

Ok, here's a question for you:
Take Army of Darkness, and then remove all of the one-liners. How funny is it now? I love Army of Darkness, but I actually think that it is the weakest of the three films...it still kicked some major ass though. Another question: Which Army of Darkness ending is the best? The Original:"Oh no! I slept too long!" where Ash gets distracted and drinks too much potion, and awakes in a Post-Apocalyptic future. or The Theatrical version: "Hail to the King Baby!" where Ash returns to S-Mart and kills the witch and gets the girl. Probably going to get stick for this, but I prefer the original ending: it just seemed far more appropriate to the rest of the series. Plus it got Ash back into character as a complete utter idiot!

army of darkness probably since it was the movie that started my worship of the coolness of bruce.
Intresting sidenote: my family's owns an old cabin in the woods in the same town the first movie was shot in and I watched the first two movies for the first time in that very cabin before finding that out. |

Evil Dead 2: easy-
1. Work shed! 2. He fights his own hand and it flips him the bird. at the time that was so original. 3. Groovy. by the time Army of Darkness came out it was just a continuation of the goofiness, but ED2 was really original.

Army of Darkness won the coin toss... so I'll give some reasons why
-"Klatuu Verata... Ni*cough cough*" -His never ending shotgun (how many rounds does it have?) -"Good... bad... I'm the one with the gun." -Making a cybernetic gauntlet in medival times btw in about 5 minutes I'll change my mind... then I'll change it back 5 minutes later...

As much as I want to like the first two more for their old-school styling and shoe-string budget, Army of Darkness was that much more compelling and probably that little bit funnier.
You should add Evil Dead 0 to the poll. I forget what it's actually called, but there's a precursor to the Evil Dead series. I think it's just a 20 minute short or something.

Army of Darkness, but mainly because it is so quotable. 2 is close.
There was actually a group near my college that did an Evil Dead musical in their backyard. Apparently it was actually pretty good, but I was never able to go see it.

Army of Darkness. Yeah it's all about the one-liners, but you have to take it for what it is. Even without the one-liners, there's still a lot of laughs to be had. For example, when Ash jumps up and locks in to his chainsaw, and when he's trying to escape the graveyard and all the skeleton arms come out and punch him in the face!

AoD because it's more zany and comical than the other two.

It depends which ending it is for Army of Darkness.
If its the end where he makes it back to his own time, then AoD gets my vote. But if its the end when he sleeps for too long and the world is messed up, the Evil Dead 2 gets the vote.
