Stargate: Atlantis (May contain spoilers)
I just saw the first three eps of this, and I must say, I'm very impressed so far. Firstly, a VJ from my local music station, MuchMusic is a main character! How cool is that? lol Secondly, Robert Patrick as a Colonel. Awsome, even though it was just a cameo. Also, the CGI is beautiful. The way they portrayed Atlantis is a work of art. Jack O'Neil, Daniel Jackson were also guest stars on the first episode, and the new cast is very likable, and the make-up is great. I'll stop my praises for now, what did everyone else think of it so far?

I liked it very much. Especially the Puddlejumper spaceship.
An interesting tidbit I read on another site was that the Wraiths might not be the big badasses the Ancients were referring to. It might be someone else. If that's true, then they must be super-badasses, because the Wraiths are some serious enemies themselves. The VJ you mentioned, Church, is he the security guy?

Nope, Lt. Aiden Ford, the second in command military guy. His name is Rainbow Sun Francks.
And yeah, the Wraiths were pretty badass, and the scene where they all woke up was pretty creepy!

I wasn't expecting much (since it's a spinoff) but I've been very impressed so far. I'm looking forward to the whole season.
I just started watching SG-1 earlier this year. My wife and I downloaded each episode so that we could watch them in succession. (How lame is that?) |

I just watched the first 2 episodes, and have enjoyed it. Though, for being such major badasses that the Wraiths are supposed to be in this story, I really didn't like the form that they were given. Just seems kind of generic evil bad guy. Otherwise, though, I'm really liking the development of this story, and can't wait for the next one!

I have to admit that overall I was expecting more for this series. The first two episodes were fantastic, and the themesong (thanks to Joel Goldsmith) is really great. Then it started to slow down. We have a few DS9 leftovers making appearances as alien cultures, but no real substance. Part of being a popular sci fi series is dabbeling into theoretical science and taking the viewer into a different world. The entity is 'Hide and Seek' was okay, although it was derivitive of every sci fi series ever. Then the puddle jumper gets stuck in the stargate. Suddenly Dr. McKay is the single most annyoing person in history. He hasen't shut up since. I still am going to watch after it returnes for episode 10, but I will not if the poor quality of writing continues to the season ender.
This series has great potential, but potential can be wasted. |
