Unrated Directors cut versus regular
Well I usualy buy the unrated dvds... american pie.. old school.. eurotrip...
BUT I bought Bad(der) Santa, and it actualy ruined the humour of the movie... funny parts got cut for more swearing.. and not in a funny way like the rest of the movie, now im stuck with the crappy copy... anyways now I dont know what to do, cause I want to get Dawn of the dead when it comes out but theres an directors cut too and the last experience made me question the merrits of those |

I generally find that the director's cut is better. However, as is with all generalizations this is always not the case. Maybe you should start a netflix account or visit Blockbuster? Try before you buy.

Depending on where you bought it you could always return it and get the other version.
Might take a little lying, but it's still very possible.

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

You know before you buy, you could always rent it first and then decide if you want the director's cut of any movie.

Yeah, the only way to really know what to do is to rent it first. If something is truely a "director's cut" then I would usually just get that version, but if it is just an "unrated" version of a film you never know. For Dawn of the Dead I'm going to go ahead and get the director's cut. I remember reading something from the director of it a few months ago talking about why he's adding scenes to it. Sounded like it should be good.

only depending on the movie will I buy a theatrical and a director's cut. It truly depends on the movie and how much I like it.
