Awesomely Painful Movies
This thread is dedicated to movies that you love, despite them being painful to watch or attempt to think about critically. I just watched the 1966 Adam West Batman film with my friends (one had only seen part of it, the other hadn't seen it at all). This movie is both absolutely hilarious, but makes absolutely no sense. The best parts involve Batman and Robin deciphering clues.
Commissioner Gordon reading clue: "What weighs 6 ounces, sits in a tree, and is very dangerous?" Robin: "Easy! A sparrow a machine gun!" Batman: "Exactly, Robin!" The machine gun did not have anything to do with the actual meaning of the riddle. The deductive logic throughout the film makes no sense, the science throughout the film makes no sense, the plot details make no sense, the acting is attrocious, the special effects are...less than special. Yes, I know they intended it to be campy, and they succeeded so thouroughly. I cringe trying to make logical sense out of it, but I love it so much almost because of that. Any movies like this for you?  |
Romy and Michelle's high school reunion.
"I invented post-its" "I've been busting my ass for a whole week now and I haven't lost a pound..." "Did you remember to subtract sixteen pounds for your shoes? And the dance scene toward the end is hilarious and nonsensical. |
I enjoy lotsa bad movies, the worst movie that I really really enjoy though would have to be Logan's Run.

most of Swingers makes me cringe.
don't get me wrong, its a fucking great film... but it cuts just a little close to the bone for me... love it, but its hard to watch. |
In "The Empire Strikes Back" the scene where Leia lays a big sloppy kiss on Luke. Gawd, it makes my skin crawl just to think about it.
|
"Think Big" and "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death." Both were staples of the USA Up All Night program back in the day. Man, that Rhonda Shear was hot!
Chicken bone, chicken bone Lucky lucky chicken bone Rabbit rabbit, treat 'em good Lucky lucky, knock on wood Yogi Bera, Tub McGraw Fire 'em up! Kumbaya! Does anybody else remember that stuff? |
Hackers...it's gotta be Hackers. When I was in college I must have watched that movie 18,000 times. (I would just turn it on in my dorm room and let it run while I did other things. In an unrelated thought: I wonder why I didn't have a girlfriend my sophmore year...) This was back before they had even released it for general purchase on VHS or DVD, so I bought it used from my local video store.
The movie is entertaining, but has absolutely no basis in reality. The best part is when the camera flys through a graphical representation of a database...high comedy. (Don't miss Penn Jillette as the datacenter security guard, either). Of course, there are a few (brief) topless scenes with Angelina Jolie, which, of course, is hot. |
