Make your own Blockbuster Challenge
Okay, the idea is that you can take any book, story, comic book, song, tale, or anything else you can think of and make it into a movie.
You pick the actors/actresses, living or dead, choose the soundtrack (can be one or more songs), and what type of film you make it to be (comedy, tragedy, horror, drama, action) and medium (animation, computer animation, or real footage). Tell us about your movie- why you picked what you did and who you did. Certianly you have thought of this before- read something or seen a movie that you thought you could have done better. Use your imaginations- there are no limits! I would make a movie of Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics. I would have Trent Reznor of NIN as the Sandman. I think a befitting soundtrack would include many classical concertos, but done in a techno format. I would have the film be primarily real footage, but have some of the backgrounds and action sequences be spliced in with comic book like animation, to keep things interesting. It would be more of a drama horror, because the story itself wasn't filled with too much action, and very little comedy. But, it would be a ballsy drama- think the Crow with less action. I think that if released in November, it would do good at the box office. |

an Indy film of Margaret Wise Brown's "Goodnight Moon."
The little bunny would be played by Rebecca Brown (the girl who played bass in School of Rock). The old lady whispering "hush" would be played by Karen Allen. The music would be by Krystof Penderecki, and the film would be shot from angles that are too close and almost out of focus.

I always thought it would be cool to make a movie about the old Dobie Gillis TV series. Sarah Gilbert would play Zelda Gilroy, and the soundtrack would be written and performed by Donald Fagen. Umm... I haven't cast any of the other parts. Can I get back to you on that?

Metal Gear Solid. 100% all the way. This movie is perfect for right now. We've got all the stars needed to make this an incredible movie. The idea is already fucking there. Fox just needs to pick this bad boy up, work with Konami on character rights, let David Hayter work on the script, and wham bam thank you ma'am we've got us a fucking summer movie spectacular. Espionage? Check. High-flying insane action? You bet. Incredibly badass characters and lines? Hell yes. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then check out IGN.com sometime. Anyway, here's my run down for characters:
Solid Snake - Hugh Jackman Colonel Campbell - John Voight/Tommy Lee Jones/Gene Hackman (maybe) Meryl Silverburgh - Mila Jovovich/Uma Thurman with red hair Sniper Wolf - Also an option for Uma Thurman (if she can do a damn decent Russian accent) Liquid Snake - ??? Has to look like Hugh Jackman (he and Solid Snake are fraternal, almost identical twins) Kenneth Baker - ? Not entirely sure. Somebody older though, preferrably fat Revolver Ocelot - ? Once again, not entirely sure, but it better be somebody older, who can pull off gray hair, and be a complete fucking badass. Cyborg Ninja/Gray Fox - Doesn't really matter, he's masked 98% of the game. Vulcan Raven - It'd be a stretch but Vin Diesel or Michael Duncan Clarke. Psycho Mantis - I was thinking maybe Gary Oldman. Otacon - somebody scrawny and geeky. These are just casting suggestions, I'm open if you guys find better people to fill these roles, I'm sure there are lesser known actors who could bring this movie to life easily, and it's fucking deserving of a movie.

I'd like to make a movie out of one of my favorite books, Nine Coaches Waiting.
Scarlett Johansson as Linda Jim Caveziel as Raul The little boy in Life is Beautiful/Gladiator as Philippe The story is an French turned English lady being a nanny for a French family in the Swiss Alps. I just really love the book, and how it portrays parts of the French language and way of life. The actors listed above seem to really fit my mental image of their characters, and I think their interpretations of the book would lead to some really great acting.

I'm going to totally steal someone else on this board's idea (sorry) and say:
The Dark Tower as Anime. This would let you do the 7 books as a series (perhaps condense them to 4 films) without having to take 10 years to film them. I would do them in the style of the Anime sequence in Kill Bill Vol. 1 (ie Not cartoony feeling like Dragon Ball Z or the like). I'll have to think about voice actors....I'll edit this thread when I have that nailed down. Soundtrack would be straight up western like "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly"

When my brother and I were younger, maybe I was 10, him 13, somewhere in there, we fantasized about an animated Les Miserables cast with all Warner Bros. characters. Yes, Les Mis with Warner Bros. characters. We were (are) pretty dorky. I forget who was who, but Foghorn Leghorn had a cool role.
