Lord of the Rings 3 Question (contains spoilers)
i havent seen the previous movies...i just happened to watch this one because a family member had rented it and it was on top of the vcr.........
My question below Spoiler: whats the deal with the ending when frodo gets on the boat with the elves and his old uncle...... |
Spoiler: If by "whats the deal" you mean why did he do it?
Frodo was touched by the rings powers, and would never be the same. He could never live the pastoral life that Hobbits should live and lived through the hell of having the ring.. A changed Hobbit.. The "golden land" was one of no pain, no loss.. He had already lost so much I love that tag |
Right.
It's sorta like Spoiler: A kid from a small rural town in the US going off to Vietnam for 3 years, seeing the atrocities, living through horrible living conditions, etc, etc and then going home and trying to "get back to his normal life". The experience has made him a new person, so they no longer fit in with the people in his life prior to the war. They have to move on. |
There is really nothing left to add to this thread... curses
And I came in with my LOTR knowledge at max power ready to answer any question that might arise... double curses |
I hear you Ace. I was ready to blow other people out of the water, but that has already been done. Damn.
|
Yep. Same here, Rubyee. The only thing I can add is that "Lord of the Rings 3" is pretty inaccurate. I mean, it's not a sequel, it's more like a continuation. But that's nitpicky crap that nobody cares about.
|
whats the golden land lol?
|
The "golden land" is basically heaven on middle earth. I don't think that Frodo and Bilbo were allowed to live in Aman proper (with the gods), but I believe on the island of Eressa with the Teleri elves, which is just off the coast of the "golden land."

^True

Yup.
Okay, so I really didn't know that one. But I know a lot of other stuff! |
Tolkein's Middle Earth for Dummies is a great source for all this kind of info ;)
|
