Official Big Brother 5 Thread (will contain spoilers)
Big Brother 5 is set to premier tonight on CBS. Lets use this thread like we have in previous seasons to discuss the ongoing drama in the house, the houseguests, interesting links, predictions, and spoilers.
I would highly recommend that anyone that likes to be suprised by what they see on the live shows to NOT READ THIS THREAD. Similarily. If you live on the West Coast and will see a delayed show, do not read this thread on eviction days when the the East Coast show has been shown. Feel free to use the Spoiler Tags. Which you can activate by typing [spoiler][/spoler] at the beginning and end of your text. Now. to the houseguests - http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother5/index.shtml is the official CBS website for bigbrother and already has the houseguest pictures on it. My favourite site for big brother information and news is www.jokersupdates.com - I will often post stories and articles that I have learned from this site here. Have fun all, and here is to another season of one of our favourite reality shows!

Here's a question. I started watching BB with #3 religiously, and loved it and #4. Is the live feed worth it? Have never tried it.

So who saw last nights episode?
Looks to be an interesting group of people. The Holly chick looks like she's gonna be annoying as hell just by the way she talks - real ditzy looking. The massive brother-sister twist left me completely unimpressed, but the whole twin thing looks like it could be interesting and good for some laughs. If you look at the cbs big brother webpage -> http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother5/index.shtml - it looks like there is three empty slots where a houseguests picture would appear. Maybe there will be 3 sets of twins?

I caught just a little of it. This show has gotten insane and I really don't understand it at all anymore. The producers are really trying too hard.

I was wondering something about that whole twin thing. When the other twin is not inside the BB house, are they kept sequestered? I'd assume that they'd have to be, or else they'd learn what everyone else is up to, also, are the twins able to talk to each other when they switch places so that they can learn what's going on?
I think this looks like a promising season, as bad as the whole project DNA thing sounds, it's a hell of a lot better than the Ex factor from last season. |

So far it seems to suggest some interesting twists. The brother-sister thing will be revealed (at least to the sister) before the first eviction (imo). The twin thing could be interesting, but I get a feeling that if it is found out, that the next "one" to go.
And did anybody notice the lack of "old" people and/or mother/father figures?

It's kind of early to form opinions on who's who (good, bad, or ugly) but I gotta say I don't much care for the one lady that's a professed twin. The way she was putting Jennifer (can't remember the name she gave herself) down was too over the top for the short time they've known each other.
The group dynamics of the cast look interesting to me, so far, so I'll definitely be watching.

My guess on the twin thing is the older guy (don't remember his name). He looks familiar to me for some reason like I've seen him before on tv talk shows or something.
Jennifer gave herself the name of Nicomus (sic?). She's definitely a little whacky. People are really going to start wondering about her brother if he keeps focusing on her father. I mean he was asking "how tall is he" and other really abnormal questions for run of the mill conversation and if no one noticed then they're dumber than I can imagine.

So whatcha all think of last nights episode. My wife and I found it thoroughly entertaining. She started crying during the whole brother revealing himself to sister deal, holy emotional.
The letters from the father were certainly a nice touch. I wonder what Michaels mother thinks about all this - or for that fact - Jennifers mother. Would be interesting to hear their reactions. No news on the whole twin thing, but I assume that is all being saved for the next show. We were talking about this 'new spin' on power of Veto and we were thinking that maybe they HAVE to use it on one person this year. That would certainly mess things up. Another thing I read on the net with the whole twin thing is that people are hoping that the identical twins will be switched in for voting days and alternate weeks. This would mean that the twin coming in would have no idea who to vote for - who they are allied with or what strategies are in play. Thats the only way that I think they could play the whole twin thing and keep it fair (they can't let them know of whats going on in the house, would be unfair to all others when competing for money). Oh well, we shall see

That'd be cool if they had to use the power of Veto, otherwise it never seems to get used. As much as I like Jennifer (Nakomus), I hope that Mike stays in the house, he seems like one of the few who are going to be able to stand up to the alpha male group of the "Four Horsemen". It seems like every year there is always the young "popular" clique, and every year I loathe them even more. I'm hopeing that everyone else can band together and get Scott and Jase out of there. Oh, and Marvin's pretty annoying too.

Okay, let me know if I'm way off base on this.
I believe Jase's reason for putting Mike on the block becuase of the supposed threat that Jase feels. But, I was surprised at putting Jennifer on the block. With Michael being part of the 4H, you'd think that he'd have some influence on the other groups vote. I would think he would put up Marvin and get rid of the other stronger males of the house. If I remember right from previous seasons, it's not like Survivor, where you need to keep the strong ones around to help with the workload or anything. Dunno, just a thought.

I actually like Mike's feistyness. His calling Jase on his alliance with Scott was entertaining. Would have been nice to see him win Veto though, he was throwing those hoops magnificantly - the other guys were freaked!
As Bones said, I think the Holly strategy was sound and I woulda done the same thing - I just wouldnt have told her! I like the whole new veto concept too, it really gives the people being put up a chance to get off - hopefully we will see lots of action. I was dissapointed in Will's betrayal of the girls, I think he should have joined up with them untill a couple of the most dangerous guys are booted and then take action - although his comments on getting a battle of the sexes going with him in the middle is a valid one. Spoiler: Rumour on the Internet is that there is a 'committed couple' in the house who have been together for quite a while - the rumour is that this is Scott and Jase - a loving gay couple. No idea if this is true though.

It'd be nice to see Mike stay around as a "power" against Scott and Jase, but at least the girls in the house are waking up to the fact that they have to break up the 4H. Frankly I think they're giving Mike way too much credit by calling him the Don and all, but at least he's trying to play the game. Nakomis doesn't seem to be doing much besides making the girl alliance, so I think I'd rather see her go.

I hope they decide to break up the girl alliance early by sending Nakomis home. She's annoying (not that she's the only one but she bugs me the most right now).
Jace and the 4 horsemen are asses. Drew is the sleeper I think. He's playing the game without tying himself in to the others too much I believe. Most people still don't recognize that the alliance goes beyond just Jace and Scott. As far as the rumor in the above spoiler, it wouldn't surprise me too much. Especially after the comment by Scott about Spoiler: "Will not acting too gay to freak us out." It was an odd comment and maybe his way of testing out the members of his alliance.

Well, Looks like Lori and Holly are nominated. I was completely and utterly dissapointed with Marvin. I thought he was smarter than that and would have saw the very obvious threat in Jase and Scott.
What a moron in my opinion. I thought the speech about 'these are the two best players in the game' was bullshit.

In fact, when he was giving the speech and talking about 'these are the two best players in the game', I thought, "Aha!" "Marvin's smarter than he's let on, especially with his talk of chess." I think Marvin has a secret alliance in this game. Whenever the Big Brother producers focus on certain people and leave the others out of the storyline, it's almost a guarantee that something will develop there.

With that being said, I thought his speech was BS. He wants Lori out, and to say that Holly is a great player - please. The only difference between this week and last is that he told Mike he wanted him out and he only put Jennifer up to assure it. Quote:

I would play the game totally different. Screw joining the mega alliance, I would rather play the middle and eliminate the biggest threats to winning the game - which is the 4H and more specifically Jase and Scott.
That's just my opinion though and I would probably get my arse kicked out early as a result of it :P

Spoiler: Jase used POV on Holly so Marvin put Karen in her place. Nominated is then Lori and Karen - I guess she was the third best player in the game. I repeat - he is a moron.

Well, the horsemen are back in the driver's seat. The numbers of the opposition are going to keep dropping. (Lather, rinse, repeat.)
At this point, I am just rooting for the twins to make it to the cutoff. And another thing, I loved when "cowboy" stated that at times he was a follower and at times he was a leader. I'm still wondering when he led.

I think Scott is the only one who will be loyal to the four horsemen alliance throughout. Cowboy will bail shortly when he finally figures out that he's gonna get left in the lurch by his "friends", I don't think Drew has the stomach for what remains to be done, and Jase is gonna go whereever he can to get a little bit further. They haven't had to struggle yet and as soon as they do their team will crumble.

So looks like Holly and Nakomis are both on the block. I'd like to see Holly gone, just because she annoys the hell out of me. Although, if the 4H agree to vote out Nakomis that may alienate cowboy and put strain on that alliance.
I was really hoping Marvin would be nominated

Bump..
From the way they left it on Tues, I didn't expect a 7-1 vote. And I don't think anyone is suprised of the Jase/Scott nomination. Diane knows she is the next to go if she is ever put up, but she had no choice. The question is: will this be a 7-0 vote against Jase?

Diane won HOH after everyone either let go (or when they changed the rules) lifted a foot/used two hands. Her and Jase went to the end and he barely lifted a foot to end up losing after 9+ hours of holding the button.
Anywho, after considering numerous scenarios, Jase and Scott were put up. It appears as though Natalie will be introduced at some point after the next eviction. Also, Jase seems to be turning against the 4H because of the Holly eviction.

The smart thing to do is get rid of Jase as he's the far stronger player but I think he will survive. Scott is just a prick in the eyes of the houseguests I suspect. Jase is somewhat humanized by his relationship with Holly and is seen as a strong player. If the nominations stay as they are (assuming none of the 4H get the Veto) Jase will cut a deal with enough people (perhaps the old "if I win HOH I won't put you up" thing and since he's seen as having a high likelihood of winning it some will fall for it) to stay in the house. I don't think Jase is turning against the 4H just because of the Holly thing. He would have turned on them either this week or next week anyway I think.

The 4H are almost kaput.
Barring a veto change, in my opinion Scott will stay. I get a kick out of Marvin whenever he mentions his 5 man alliance with the 4H. What did they name it again?

Diane said it best herself - she may be the dumbest person on the face of the Earth. Why do you put up Marvin - Cowboy was the best choice. Now all the 4H have to do is convert one player, and Marvin is gone and the 4H are still in tact. She is the focus point of the 4H's strategy, but she may be the weakest link.
