Who Are Your Top 10 Favorite Stand-Up Comedians?

Inspired by the which comedians do you hate thread, how about the best stand-up comedians you like?

My list:

10) Rodney Dangerfield - He delievers faster than anyone.
9) Jim Carrey - It's so hard to find his stand-up stuff, especially considering he does a lot of physical comedy.
8) Denis Leary - Even though he always seems as if he's on something while doing stand-up, he's still funny.
7) Lewis Black - The best political comedian ever in my opinion. He can make a decent joke a great joke with his delievery.
6) Eddie Murphy - He was great, and showed great promise, but his career was cut short by that silly multi-million dollar movie thing.
5) Ron White - His stand-up sets sound very similar to Wisconsin life.
4) Dave Attell - One of the dirtiest comics out there, but he's still damn funny.
3) George Carlin - So funny for so long, he has to be in the top 3.
2) Richard Pryor - While he is great because he's able to make fun of himself, he's bumped out of the top spot by...
1) Carlos Mencia - The least politically correct comedian out there. I cannot remember a single joke of his I have not laughed at.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

A brilliant comedian over here in the Uk is Peter Kay. I think you have to be British to get his routine but very funny.

I don't think I'll hear a better comedian than Bill Hicks in my lifetime.

after that:
Early Robin Williams
Early Eddie Murphy
Steve Martin
Dave Chappell
Bobcat Goldwait
Eddie Izzard
Early Jake Johanson

On the subject of comics, whatever happened to Comic Relief?

I no longer enjoy any other comedians. Compared to hicks they just seem so fake.

I feel ive learned alot from his routines about the world and the way people communicate, even tho I started listening to him years after he died.

1. Jerry Seinfeld. I should mention Larry David, but since I've never seen his act, I'll stick to Seinfeld. Brilliant performer and comedian.

2. Jeff Foxworthy.

3. Ellen DeGeneres (sp?).

He wrote a horrible movie (pootie tang) but his stand-up is great.

Mitch Hedberg and David Cross are also outstanding.

I like comedians who like to break taboos or take you to unexpected places, but do it intelligently or to make a point -- not just to shock. Good standup is almost a form of philosophy.

1 SAM KINISON (RIP BROTHER SAMMY) so funny and was a genius
2 Eddie Murphy was tops for a long time till he lost his humor
3 Steve Martin all I can say is WILD AND CRAZY GUY and for those who disagree "WELLLLL EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE MEEEEEEEE"
4 The Smothers Brothers Hilarious when uncensored
5 Bob Newhart a straight man doing comedy by himself? sure enough he did it and did it great
6 George Carlin is just fantastic and knows what works
7 Robin Williams pushed the boundaries and was all over the place
8 Redd Foxx set so many standards for the black stand up, Pryor took over where Redd left off but Redd did it so much better
9 Howie Mandel quickest comic on his feet, could ask anyone their name or job and before they finished had a joke
10 (tie) From Brit Tv Dave Allen shed light on the political and religious and made them extremely funny
10 (tie) "------------ " Benny Hill just silly
10 (tie) Bill Cosby took a bad childhood and made it all sound funny and made me wish I had friends like Fat Albert and Weird Harold
