I've seen Ghost in the Shell, and despite my general lack of enthusiasm for anime, I found it to be surprisingly brilliant.

I'll have to check this out now.

It wasn't Japan. It was America. I watched at the North America premier at SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival). It was at the move theater called the Cinerama on June 12th.

Hiya,

It isn't in general release in the US yet:

http://www.moviecentre.net/upcomingm...review/368.php

The official site says it will be release in the US on September 17. I'm hoping they're releaseing it someplace where I can see it. I can't wait...

Yeah, me too! I'm going Friday right from work.

I hate going to theaters because of crowds, but I figure a couple xanax and I should be okay.

Watched it at the Toronto Film Festival, and I think I loved it! Oshii did an amazing job with it. However, it was extremely heavy on the philosophy... Honestly, there was so much going on, and the visuals were so stunningly beautiful, that I can't wait until DVD to figure out for sure whether I loved it or not!

I just caught it on Monday night at the Camera 7 (it closes there on Thursday, Oct. 7). I had forgotten it took me half a dozen viewings of the first one to figure out what was going on. I guess I need to see Innocence at least five more times before I can comment intelligently on it.

I think one of the best parts is that the characters have aged between films. Cool little details like that make it a great movie.

I've heard it's as good as the original.

I didn't like the original as much as a lot of people. I thought it was supremely overrated. But it was good nonetheless!

Saw it last week. The story is a little slower paced than the original, lots of philosophical discussion, but it looks unbelievable.
