A dream come true!--Palahnuik's novels made into movies!
This is the best news i have had in.... ever!!
Big thanks to k1ng for the heads up. http://www.themovieblog.com/archives...nto_films.html Who knows just how much of this is wishful thinking on behalf of a man who wants to see his words on the big screen but I'm a rabid, slavering fan of Chuck Palahniuk's writing so I really hope this all turns out to be true ... some folks over at Dark Horizons attended a public reading recently and someone asked Palahniuk whether any of the rumored film adaptations were going to happen. His response: The people behind Constantine are sniffing around the rights to Survivor and have said publicly that they want it to be their next film. Invisible Monsters starts production this year with Jessica Biel in the lead (and very disfigured) role. Word is the producers are chasing Billy Crudup and Val Kilmer as possible male leads. Good choices, both, says I ... Choke is also slated to begin production later this year. Diary begins production next year. For those keeping score that means every Palahniuk novel other than Lullaby has either already been adapted to film or will be in the next couple years. There are also rumors of some sort of collaboration with Spike Jonez and further projects with David Fincher. Fincher and Palahniuk have already made one film together. A little thing called Fight Club. It was okay. -i have been saying survivor should be made into a movie for years... i just hope that david fincher directs these films. |
I hope his books are better than the movies.
Not good news to me since I love the books and the movies will probably star Ben Affleck or some other no talent shit like that.
well this could be true, but fincher doesnt make bad movies... so we just have to hope that he makes these.
I think that if Fincher were to make these they would be hard pressed to make them suck. He's one of the few directors that I have faith to not screw this up. This is the best news I've heard out of hollywood in a long long time.
And frankly there needs to be more movies made where really masculine men have breasts. |
I wonder how a director will manage to include Anal Beads into the adaptation of Choke and maintain an 'R' rating. Likewise with felching and the ending of Invisible Monsters.
Woot !!!
mnan I so wanted a survivor movie (if it's good) almost suprised it's being made though.
Doesn't get much better than that, especially if David Fincher is at the helm.
I can't wait, and also I'm scared shitless that they are going to screw up some of the best books to come out in a LONG time. Survivor is my FAVORITE book by chuck and I've been waiting so long to see it on the big screen. But..... there's still a voice in the back of my head (besides the other ones) saying that it might be the biggest piece of shit to come out of Hollywood in a while. Chuck hardly has any sayso in the movies (he did nothing for the movie fight club) but said he loved it. Let's just hope that they do the right thing and keep it true to the book.
They have a hard act to follow in Fight Club, I'm sure that will be uppermost in their minds when they come to produce them. Fincher's style in Fight Club suited Pahlaniuk's prose so well, when I read the book (after seeing the film) the two meshed so well. The film was an almost literal interpretation of the book. That's the route they need to take. Bit concerned about Choke, didn't think that was a spectacular book compared to Fight Club and Invisible Monsters. Still have to read Survivor and anything more recent than Choke.
