D&D question? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

well, some friends decided they wanted to play. i told them i played years ago, and i decided id DM for them. we're going to make this our 'summer project'...

now, i got the PH, DMG and monstrous manual at a local comic store, second hand for 5 or 10 bucks a piece. no biggie. but, there was only 1 copy of each, and im the only one who knows how to play...

so, ive found the books in .pdf format on the internet, which im going to send out to my friends so they can learn the rules, but the pdf format is big and clunky. anyone know where i can find them in .doc or .txt format?

Just an FYI, the PDF format that you have is stolen. Printing it out is copyright infringement. This is sort of like asking for warez.

Are you playing 3/3.5?

ah crappy. i didnt like it anyway, it was poorly (scanned?) or something and hard to read. i was gonna can it anyway.

we're playing sort of a hybrid of both. im just sort of picking/choosing the rules which work best.

not having played since the late 80's, I don't know how strict the rules have become, but for me the best part of playing throughout the 80's was that D&D was based on your imagination and the rules were interpretive.

Hopefully, Gary Gygax didn't let Hasbro change it so much that they took the imagination out of it by now having strict rules.

It all depends on your DM, but you need to know how to roll and so forth. Even with the damn d20 system under 3.5 some of my group are unsure of how to make skill checks and the like. You have to be able to handle the system before you can make roleplaying the major component.

Straight from wizards of the coast (its legal), the 3.5 System Reference Document should be what you're looking for.

If you have older rules than that, TSR used to sell all of the guids on a cd in window's help format. You could probably find it in Software etc. for $5.

Hmmm... it's been a long time since I played, but I know a few people that are still into this type of game. They play HackMaster.

im an avid 3.5 (d20) player. i play 2-5 times a week, in 1-5 hour sessions. PM me if you have any other questions. i have character sheets for all classes, and most templates even.

it shows which skills are cross-class(meaning restricted ranks)if kadath was pondering the 3.5 skill checks and the like

you could probably get 3.0 cores for dirt cheap..I think at a borders outlet they had a few for like 2 bucks a pop..and find the conversions for free.

Hopefully, Gary Gygax didn't let Hasbro change it so much that they took the imagination out of it by now having strict rules. __________________ I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
