The Terminal
After seeing the trailer for The Terminal I was thinking that this might be the first Spielberg film that I'm not excited at all about seeing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a die hard/"Spielberg can do no wrong" Spielberg fan, but I think he's one of those directors you can always count on. With the execption of one film (The Lost World), I can't really imagine walking out of one of his films thinking, "God, that was horrible!!" Well, I was able to see a screening of The Terminal last night and IMO it was a good movie. It was very...cute I guess (can't think of a better word to use, but there must be one). On the negative side, there were many times that I found myself thinking, "come on, that would NEVER happen." There were just so many things about it that were unbelievable. Spielberg usually isn't in the business of making "believable" movies though, and I guess that's one that's one thing that nice about him. I also felt like it was a little long, but at the same time I was REALLY hungry, so maybe that's why it felt so long.
Anyway... I liked the movie. I would go see it. Just thought I would share. :) |
You know The Terminal is based on a true story. the guy is from Iran, i think, and now lives at Charles de Gualle airport for the past 8-10 years or somthing. There was a article about it in GQ a few months ago. I'll see if i can find it.
i agree with this - Cathrine Zeta-Jones as a flight attendant - unbelievable *edit* A man has been stranded at a Paris airport for more than a decade - LINK |
I'm excited to see this movie. I think it looks really good. Cute, yes.. But I like cute movies :)
I just read that snoops article. Poor guy :( |
Well Mr. Mojo, I came into this thread just to point that out. I saw it on the Straight Dope website. That's pretty insane. So for that reason, I am interested in seeing this movie.

to me this seems like a pretty odd thing to make a movie about... but then again, at least it's not a remake or a sequel. :)

Tom Hanks very rarely picks a bad script to star in. The Terminal may not be a great movie, but I doubt it will be a bad movie.

Yep, I heard about this story a couple of months ago on some news show- Fact or Fiction, I believe, and when I heard there was a movie coming out on it, I had to see it. Now if only I had the money to go see it.

I'm not too excited about this movie, really, dosen't seem like my kind of show.

The story of the real dude was decidedly depressing. I'm sure the movie will be upbeat, but I'm not all that interested, really.

Looks like Spielberg is making some last minute touches:

"The film was originally skedded to preem in Los Angeles Friday."
"Exactitude is synonymous with Spielberg, but so is decisiveness. The helmer is not known as an eleventh-hour fiddler." My head is bursting. Also, I don't understand why DreamWorks was "confounded"; have they never heard of "dramedy"? Curse you, Hollywood. Burn in the hell you've created. |
