Interesting short animated films
Pixar definitely rule in this department, the 'For the birds' short before Monster Inc. was very funny and I also like the 'Genie's game' too.
Another short that's really good is a claymation called 'MORE', it's about finding the true meaning of happiness, got great music with it. Any other good ones that you guys like? |

The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer is pretty sweet, it's a stop motion animation from 1984 or so. Also, if you're a TOOL fan, it should look familiar.
EDIT: I just realized, the animation is called "The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer", but it's made by Keith Griffiths and the brother's Quay. |

I'm watching this right now on Sundance Channel
weird.. but VERY COOL!!! Shorts Program 104 2003 60 MINS, Color LA SALLA This crazy, Oscar-nominated animated film from eccentric Canadian artist Richard Condie (THE BIG SNIT) employs the form of Italian opera to tell an absurdly comic tale of temptation. (1996) STILTWALKERS (aka LES ECHASSIERS) In his first professional film, animator Sjaak Meilink presents a parable about the creative power of the mind, starring a solitary fisherman whose drawings seem to have a life of their own. (2002) HOME ROAD MOVIES In this British family memoir, some children remember how their awkward dad took them on a European holiday road trip in a high-performance station wagon. Robert Bradbrook presents this real-life story with a striking combination of computer animation, treated photographs and live action. Scottish actor Bill Paterson (TRAFFIK, THE SINGING DETECTIVE) appears as the father. (2001) THE BRAINWASHERS (aka LES RAMONEURS CEREBAUX) Stop-motion puppet animation brings to life two rather odd cleaning men who are assigned the task of unclogging the gray matter in the mind of a musician. Canadian Patrick Bouchard directs. (2002) EL OCTAVO DIA (aka THE EIGHT DAY) Juan Jose Medina and Rita Basulto present a metaphysical animated fantasy in which the Creator contemplates making an ideal being that will immortalize him. (2000) TV14 (AC, V) (1:00)

Cool! another Quay fan! "The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer" is pretty good, but it's not their best. I'd say "Street of Crocodiles" is their masterpiece. If you like that, get a copy of Svankmajer's "Alice." I cannot recommend this movie enough. An absolute must-see for anyone into stop-motion animation. |
