Paycheck
Wow. Wow. I have never seen a movie like this before. It was staggering. There is this quote from The Long Kiss Goodnight where Sam Jackson says, "I did everything wrong in my life. That takes talent." That applies to this movie. There is absolutely, positively nothing good, right, etc. about this movie. It is the worst movie I have ever (Ever) seen. I, personally, did not think that Ben Affleck could act any worse than Changing Lanes but I was sorely mistaken. He is so bad that he makes Uma Thurman bad. The only reason I rented this POS is for Uma Thurman (whom I have an, admittedly, an unhealthy fondness of) and even she was just terrible. John Woo should be ashamed of himself. For shame Mr. Woo, for shame. If you are considering renting this movie, by all means, rent something else. You will thank me later.

I saw this movie in the cinema, despite the fact I pretty much knew it would be awful. I was in denial. I absolutely adore all of John Woo's older stuff. What the hell happened? Why is such a talented man putting out so much garbage lately?
Since Face/Off, he has done nothing good. MI2 was OKAY, not as good as it should have been, but not truely awful Windtalkers and Paycheck: Garbage. Eughh. It sucks so much, and I was so annoyed at how crap Paycheck was. You're better than this John Woo! /Heads off to watch Hard Boiled, The Killer and Face/Off back to back.

Windtalkers was a fucking piece of shit. As was Paycheck. I agree with Mahler in saying that Uma was terrible. I also saw this movie in the cinema and it was rediculous. Pure shit. The whole suspense was in not knowing what he is going to use his gadgets for, and the sad thing is, I predicted most of them. I just found that part of it worthless, and considering his little package of shit was what the movie revolved around.... Ya know.

Wowza. Just shut the dvd off. It's rare that I disagree with the execution of almost every scene in a movie like I did here. The horrid acting, the insepid excuse for comic relief, the glaring plot holes and the GOOD GOD CAN I HAVE ONE FUCKING JOHN WOO MOVIE WITHOUT A FUCKING DOVE moment, this movie was a pile. Spoiler: And can a brother not get a simple "thanks" on a watch, even?? There isn't a single redeeming quality to be had here, I think.

I usually am able to somewhat enjoy movies that get blasted by critics and others because I'm able to find at least some redeeming qualities and enjoy it for that. As bad as Windtalkers was, I didn't think it was god awful. So I rented Paycheck since it's a Philip K. Dick story and I thought it might actually be an interesting story, but the plot was so stupid, the dialogue was terrible, the acting, for the most part, was shitty, and even the action scenes were bad. I really could find nothing redeeming about the whole thing. Wish I had listened to the reviews.
