Helter Skelter on CBS tonight 8PM ET/PT
Anyone plan on watching this? I saw the previews a while back and thought that it might be crappy, as some true crime flick TV movies are, but from what I read, this is even better than the late 70s documentary on the Tate/LaBianca murders (called 'Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders') and I remember how good I thought that was (it's been over 10 years since I saw that, but I remember it was really detailed about the events and had a lot of great footage).
Vincent Bugliosi (who prosecuted Manson and wrote the book Helter Skelter) is the executive producer, so I think that's a good sign. Here's the link to the review I read: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04135/315955.stm |
didn't even know this was coming on...could be interesting

Its not over yet, but from what I've seen so far, I really like it. Its informative, unique, creepy, good acting, all in one. Very good so far...

It's actually been pretty accurate so far, even down to the anecdote about Charlie's hand shaking and Bugliosi pointing it out to him.

I so vividly remember the original movie, back when I was in junior high - scared the bejeesus out of me.
Maybe I'm jaded because the original was so good, or it was a different time, this movie doesn't scare me, the casting in this movie seems all wrong.. Steve Railsback, the original Charlie Manson, was creepy, Jeromy Davis(?) isn't - he comes off as kinda likeable -- Railsback was psychotic They just have left well enough alone and rebroadcast the original... |
