most underrated film of all time

thin red line

this movie blows saving private ryan away, no question, it's a masterpiece, a work of art, except for the fact that john travolta is in it, and george clooney, even though i like him

Donnie Darko is not underratted. I think they are releasing it in theaters with extra footage. Any movie that is not released in theaters initially and then is put into theaters because of its popularity is certainly not underrated.

Wrong!

Or maybe the matrix?

I'm not getting you. That, in no way is humoring me. Whether it is coming out in theaters or not, doesn't matter. Donnie Darko is extremely highly rated by everyone who has seen it.

The irony is that on imdb's top list of movies Donnie Darko is way higher than Titanic and Clerks, and only 3/10 of a point behind the matrix.

It is number 10 on their list of sci fi movies.

I agree with you on this one.

I'll add a few:
Toy Story 2 - I like it better than the first one
Fear of a Black Hat - Much better than CB4
Tombstone - May not be all that underrated, but it's still my favorite Western, and I don't hear it talked about much these days.

Ditto, the film made me cry more than ROTK!

Also, any Kurosawa film is underated, sure they're regarded as timeless classics but how many people do you know have actually seen one? SEVEN SAMURAI should be compulsory viewing.

Equillibrium. I thought it was Fucking great! but i only saw it on the crappy payperview channel at 2am... i thought it would completely suck but the action scenes and the acting were almost as good as in the matrix or any similar movies. For those who never saw it, rent it! it's a bit like "1984" and a "perfect world" mixed together.

The acting is far superior than The Matrix, Keanu's "dude" acting was neat for the first film since he's bewildered by all that's happening around him but in Reloaded... my God the CG Neo acted better! He did have a fantastic moment in Revolutions though where he allows himself to be "beaten". /RAMBLE

Wow when reading at the top I was thinking about equilibrium, then someone said it. So yeah, equilibrium. Personally I still like the matrix more, but it is still an awesome movie, and is underrated

The Man who knew Everything....I believe is the title of that Bill Murray movie about Bill visiting his brother in England and he gets caught up in one of those live theatre productions that you participate in...but it's not.

Bloody funny as hell and I remember there were only the 2 of us in the theatre when it was out. Nobody saw it...but when I tell them to rent it...most people just loved it. I did anyhow.

High Fidelity, when ever i quote from it or say something about people are like "What movie is that, I've never scene it [laughs at his own stupid pun!]". It is by far one of or my favorite film. Another one is Butterfly Effect, people said it was horrible but i thought it was amazing.

Actually, it was called "The Man Who Knew Too Little".
I agree with you, though. I liked it, myself.

-----------------------

I think the Chevy Chase and Daryl Hannah movie "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" was a pretty entertaining film.
It had a film noir feel to it that appealed to me.

Definately "Death to Smoochy". The critics hated it, but it was absolutely amazing and hilarious, not to mention incredibly well shot. Plus an all-star cast! Robin Williams, Danny Devito, Ed Norton...

Ahhh... good calls with American Splendor and Death to Smoochy. I agree with those 100%.

I don't think Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or The Big Lebowski are underrated. Not with the huge cult following both of these movies have.
