I thought the finale was as it should be. Perhaps a little trite, but it's what most of the fans wanted. And I thought all the characters were very true to themselves. No one did anything particularly out of character. Actually, I thought the characters were more authentic to their original incarnations than they have been in a long time.

The clip show was cute. A good look back.

Yeah, maybe it's what the fans wanted, but every single sewed up end was anti-climatic.

Sad however that it's gone. It'll be like Seinfeld though, on every night at 10 between your local news and Lettermen or Leno. =/

I've watched this show for half of my life and now it ended. While watching this, I kept looking at the clock, hoping that it wouldn't end...but it did. I'm a little relief that it ended though...I thought it would end three years ago. But no! They keep on making new Friends..which is good...until now. Good ending. Best performance goes to Lisa Kudrow in that episode. :

The flashback clip is kinda redundant.

..can't wait for Joey in the fall..gonna be gooooooooooood! I have a hunch the other people will guest star in Joey...and will be looking forward to it.

having never watched more than bits and pieces of episodes, I still would expect that it was all cliched 'happy ending' bullshit. My favourite series finale by far was Forever Knight where almost of the major characters still surviving were killed off in the in the last 3 episodes or so.

The finale was what it was supposed to be. It stayed very safe, nothing too crazy. I felt the goodbye to the fussball(sp?) table the one between Joey and Chandler were alot more emotional than the ending shot. But I only watched because of Joey and Chandler. ::shrugs::

but i always get suckered into watching reruns somehow...

i never knew what the fascination with the show was... Although there were some pretty funny episodes

But, like seinfeld, it will live on in reruns

Friends should have ended one season earlier. This whole season has been lame. The one-liners have still been funny - especially Chandler's - but the plot lines and situations, which used to be realistic, just became completely inane. Are we really supposed to believe that after 10 years of all of them essentially living together, they are still so uninformed about each other that they can be put into all sorts of deceitful situations? Or for example, in this last episode - are we really supposed to believe that Rachel can't see in Ross how much he cares for her?

But I digress. In terms of the finale. We all knew that Ross and Rachel would wind up back together. Or at least I did. Their relationship was the one constant of the show from the beginning. However, they waited until the last two episodes to do it, and that made it unbelievable. Last night was not the first time they slept together out of nowhere (remember the baby?), yet suddenly, now it means more? It means more NOW then it did when they had a baby??

Everybody loved that ending because it's what we always wanted from the two of them. But I didn't buy it. The stakes weren't high enough for me. I didn't believe that Rachel would go to Paris and not think of the baby first. (But then again, babies have always taken a backseat on Friends - Ross must be the worst father ever has Ben has only been in a handful of episodes, ever. Gunther gets more screentime.)

The twins for Monica and Chandler was a good surprise, albeit completely unrealistic because that was the worst childbirth scene I've ever seen. And what, Erica gives birth to the babies, goes to the recovery room, and Monica and Chandler just say "we'll call you?" Uh...it's little wrap-ups like those that make the show so difficult to believe.

The moment that was most touching for me was when Joey and Chandler were saying goodbye to the foosball table. Although the lines were so obviously supposed to encompass the writers and actors' external feelings about the show ending that they might as well just looked into the camera and said them to the audience watching.

There were some very funny lines - I enjoyed Chandler's line about separating the twins and giving each a medallion so they could find each other later in life. That gave me a big laugh.

In the end, the show played it safe and did a very storybook ending. The same ending that Growing Pains and a million other shows have had - everyone leaving their home. I was just surprised nobody did the traditional "look back wistfully and turn off the light" ending. Chandler's last line - when they all suggested going out for coffee and he said "Where?" - was a great ending. I didn't need the last shot of the apartment.

I realize I'm taking this way too seriously. I know that the goofy and unbelievable sub-plots are part of the charm of the show. After ten years, it doesn't take away from the fact that Friends was, overall, a very funny show, and managed to keep us really caring about the same central characters year after year. It had its high points and low points but overall was a very, very strong series. I just expected more from the finale. I will still enjoy watching it in reruns for years to come, and I am sad that it's over, even if it's definitely time. It's been enjoyable watching a cast of people that really didn't have careers beforehand blossom into huge stars, and still return to their day jobs, so to speak.

I will watch Joey's sitcom. I don't have high hopes but I'll definitely check it out. I think that Matthew Perry will be the first one to guest star and it'll happen in November when the ratings are measured.

On a final note - did anybody else notice how freaking PREGNANT Courteney Cox Arquette was??

The only thing I'll add is that the whole bit about Ross living there in the summer and Ross' line "You realize we nearly went ten years without mentioning that" was funny in a very metahumor way.

This season had funny moments, but overall it was pretty bad. I did like the finale and I'm glad I watched it. Were they too wrapped up in tying up all loose ends? Yes, but it's Friends and that's the type of show it is.

About Ben and even Emma, the show isn't about the kids. It's like "Everybody Loves Raymond" You rarely see the kids in that show either.

The fitting part that seemed to really tie things off was the demolition of the fooz ball table. Everything had to have its closure, even the memorable table of Joey and Chandler's to resemble their friendship and Chandler moving away.
The ending was powerful, as they all couldn't help but convey their real life emotions into walking out of the apt. one last time. *choking back tears even as we speak*
It was wonderful, but I don't think I'll ever feel it's over. We're on the 6th season DVD set, and still have 4 more to go. Plus Joey coming in the fall- the preview was hilarious. It's so Joey...........

The clipping one was better but I also liked the finale. I cried when Ross was trying to find out if she got off the plane and then she walked in the door and said yea she got off the plane.

I'll give my opinion of the finale: I didn't watch the clip show because after 10min, it sucked too much. The finale was a good end but there was'nt enough jokes! too much crying. and like a few said, it was completely unrealistic! and i noticed that monica was really fat! i didnt know she was pregnant... oh well. And i will not watch joey's show... ppl will expect it to be better or as good as friends and without the rest, it's gonna suck because joey's caracter was never that important. He's too dumb. Anyways, thats what i thought. now we get to see the repeats for another 10 years. I doubt any show will ever be as funny or as long as Friends and Seindfeld. ... thats all... now let's all move on.

I loved the last show.
But it sucks that I havent watched any actual new episodes.
Only syndication.
I imagine I'll be watching "Friends" for the next 10 years.

"Joey" sounds good, but I think everyone will expect guest apperences. Maybe if the general public *coughcough* had more open minds, they would enjoy the show. I personally will try to watch every episode, just because I wanna see Duck Jr and Chick Jr grow up. The chick and the duck are one of the GREATEST PIECES of the "Friends" puzzle.

Didn't watch the finale but I had a friend that watched it and he gave me a line by line. I watched the Oprah interview though and that was really good. You can see why the show was such a success, the cast members are all so close in real life. I loved the show and I'll get all of the DVD box sets.

Ive watched the show since its beginning, and I've still enjoyed it, right up to the finale. I thought the ending was perfect, not trying to be anything special. But it was time for it to leave, and I'm glad it did. I, for one, am looking forward to reruns!
