Movies about ________ that you'd like to see.

I know you all have fantasized about a person or an event or a thing that you'd dream that Hollywood would make. So lets hear it.

Mine are.....

Ghengis Khan
he's just so bad ass.

Captain America
since we're all into this "comic book movie craze," might as well include this guy.

Romance of Three Kingdoms.
After reading the novels, I can't help but think how cool it would be to make a movie out of this. Any one who can pull this off would be a god even to Petter Jackson (at least on my list )

Edit: Addition: Throw in the star of your choice too. Go nuts!!

Sorry if this had already been post, I tried doing a search but couldn't find any...

Hmmm...

Most of mine would be historical.

I would like to see one on the Greco-Persian wars. Imagine the 300 Spartans fighting to the death at Thermoplyae, the destruction of Athens, the great naval battle of Salamis...

If they can make Troy, and Alexander, then why not this?

I would like to see a good movie on WWII from the German perspective. I'm fully aware of Stalingrad and Das Boot.

I would like to see another good movie on the American Civil War (I'm a sucker for this topic), but I guess "Gods and Generals" kinda killed that idea.

I would like to see a movie on the FIRST World War.

I would like to see a move on the Making of the Atomic Bomb, based on Richard Rhodes magesterial, Pulitzer Prize winning opus.

I would like to see the remaining three books in James Elroy's LA Quartet made. LA Confidential was excellent. I heard they are making the Black Dahlia, so that's a good start...

I would like to see some of William Gibsons cyber-punk novels done. I guess cyber-punk is kinda passe now?

EDIT: Great thread idea...

What Johnny Mnemonic didn't do it for you? lol (worst screen adaptation ever). Anyways, give a gun to a kid with an ipod and a cell and you pretty much have cyberpunk in real life. I never saw the New Rose Hotel movie.

I'd like to see a remake of the original Night of the Living Dead ala Dawn... In the Penal Colony (David Cronenberg dir.)... The Hobbit before Ian McKellen kicks it... Stranger in a Strange Land, could never get an R rating...Dune Messiah, keep the David Lynch look but speed up the pacing...

I'd like to see Terry Brooks' Elfstones made into a movie. It's his best and most exciting Shannara book, and it stands alone, so you wouldn't have to do the others.
I would not want to see Stranger done as a movie. It would never meet my expectations, and they'd have to cut it down to nothing to fit it in even three hours.

Gallipoli is about WWI, but it's probably not what you want. As for the bomb, did you ever see Fat Man and Little Boy? It's not great, but it might do till they make your movie.

I'd like to see a movie shot in entirely first person.

More "cyber punk" movies would be cool.

More original ala matrix type stuff, the same ol formulaic action movies do get old.

I'd like to see Rainbow Six made into a movie. (Tom Clancy in general = awesome)

Another terminator movie, showing the war itself would be great.

More indiana jones esque movies, the first Mummy was good.

I'd like to see more movies where HR Geiger is the conceptual artist

The sequal to star wars.

I'd like to see more movies done in full CG, like Final Fantasy(I really liked that movie, plot, animation, everything)

More action packed vampire movies that don't suck. Blade is all we got here folks, with underworld begging for attention..

More medival epic's. Ala braveheart

another revolutionary war movie.

Another Mad Max (any movie that happends after a nuke war = )

...i'm going to stop now.

I'd like to see a series of movies made from R.A. Salvatore's character Drizzt D'Urden................staring Gary Coleman j/k

one (or maybe 50) based on the Shadowrun novels and RPG pen & paper game. I used to write FASA (when they stilled owned the property) weekly to make this into a movie, and they always wrote back saying that they were in talks, but apperantly nothing ever came of it.

I would kill to see somebody unfuck the Bond series, and return it to its stylish & suave roots, instead of this typical action BS it has become.

And while I totally agree with wanting a good Dune movie, I think the scope is just too immense to deal with in even a trilogy, much less one movie. The generational jump almost lost my interest in God Emperor of Dune, as the majority of key characters had completely been replaced, and I think it would do the same to the popcorn movie oriented viewers of today.

I've started reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell Hamilton, and I have to say they would make incredible movies. However, after having seen the mess they made of vampires and werewolves in Underworld, I'd be afraid of what they could do to ruin it.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman turned into a movie just to see the representation of the characters.

Rising Stars by J Michael Straczynski would be fantastic if done right (it wouldn't ever though).

one for the pop culture crowd ->
I would love to see a decent story keeping faithful to both Fran Striker creations showing the Green Hornet in his prime which should be set in the 1930's working with his Great-Uncle best known as the Lone Ranger (AKA John Reid but the first name does vary depending on the source used). Britt Reid/The Hornet is the son of Dan Reid, the nephew of the Lone Ranger that he helped raise after Dan's father was killed in the brutal Cavendish bushwack that was responsible for creating the mysterious masked rider and the Lone Ranger's (or lone survivor) first meeting with Tonto.
Something similar in concept to the recent Batman cartoon series showing Bruce Wayne as 80something with the young whipper-snapper doing the dangerous physical work, but keeping closer to the radio show in execution than any of the later versions.

and something quite a bit deeper and far more important ->
a film/mini-series showing the horrors of the Joseph Stalin years and the 70 million lives he destroyed in his country. If there has been something like that (a film version of Gulag Archipelago and beyond is what comes to mind), then I have missed it.
Time may heal all wounds, but gaping wounds like that take several generations. Just a quick glance at the War Between the States in the US and how the North raped the South afterwards and virtually ensured racial disharmony that still echoes strongly to this day shows that all too well.

Isn't that a bit of a controversial statement?

How did the corruption of the Grant Administration and the emergence of "carpet-baggers" ensure racial disharmony?

Racial disharmony occured not because of a few corrupt "yankees", but because the majority of whit Southerners (at that time) were racist supremecists.

But I think this is a topic for the Politics board...

Gung-ho and romanticized? It's about how English commanders were unable to adapt to the introduction of the machine gun and shift to trench warfare tactics, costing thousands of unnecessary lives. It's not that romantic a view, and it condemns the gung-ho attitude.

What I would really, really like to see would be Tom Clancy's, "Without Remorse."

"Without Remorse" is the "secret origin tale" of Mr. Clark.

However, since the movie renditions of Tom Clancy's book are all such sad pieces of rubbish, the people associated with the other Clancy movies (direction, screenwriters, etc.) should not be allowed to be involved.

I think that the screenplays were based on the jacket notes and a couple of short reviews and not the novels.
