is it just me...?
or does every animated kids show nowadays just have to have a movie? i mean i like spongebob as much as the next guy or whatever, but this seems a little...bleh? like a cheapshot corporate idea for more profit or something. whatever the case, i just know i'll be seeing it, as my 9 yr old brother will want me to drag me along, i'm sure.

Its just another way to make money. Just like how ever animated kids show has dolls, and action figures, and clothes, and pjs, and bedding, and ...
Its a hideous thing thats begun... and it won't stop, because kids want it and parents buy it. Its the way it works... |

Well, for some TV series it's a good idea, such as South Park. But then again, that isn't really a "childrens" show

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

It's for money -- they figure they can squeeze some ticket sales out of their audience so they try. It's not about art, it's about profit. Spongebob is huge with kids, absolutely huge, and the studio is going to find as many ways of making money off it as possible.
This is nothing new and isn't limited to cartoons -- after all, did the X-Files movie really have to be made? I think not. |
