I thought they made a pretty big deal about the "room" numbers in that movie, and I think I've heard the quote before also. But not sure about the movie...

Also, the number being discussed could potentially relate to a large number of deaths.. Maybe a mass killing ala "28 Days Later" or something. Just a thought.

28 Days Later: a possibility. But I don't remember much "thinking" in that movie. Just running.

I, too, searched the Solaris script (online) and the one I found had the movie beginning with a line or two about being a poet or something like that. The movie (on DVD) doesn't begin with that line. Therefore, I don't know how useful or accurate searching the online scripts will be.

We'd have a better chance guessing correctly if brandon11983 manages posting the list of movies that he's seen. It is still driving all of us nuts knowing that we've heard it somewhere but we aren't sure where.

On my last visit home, I stopped in to see my buddy at the video store. He said he could get me the list of DVD's that I rented, but he'd have to do it one by one, rather than just "wham bam thank you ma'am" hit a few buttons and have it. I didn't want to subject him to that (I rent a shitload of movies). I guess this will end up like the Pyramids and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I don't recall ever seeing a trailer. I'll watch the flick this weekend. I can tell you already that that isn't the movie I was referring to. Maybe I don't even know the movie I'm referring to.

uh...i just watched that movie and the quote was not in there. i rented it like 2 nights ago after this post was formed so the quote was fresh in my head. its not 21 grams.
