Indiana Jones Trilogy on DVD November 4!
Monday, May 5, 2003 11:54 CDT

The Hollywood Reporter says the "Indiana Jones" trilogy has finally been announced for release November 4 as "The Adventures of Indiana Jones -- The Complete DVD Movie Collection," a box set that will include a fourth disc specifically dedicated to bonus materials.

Elements slated for the special fourth disc include a documentary crafted by Laurent Bouzereau. "The fourth disc explores every facet of how the films were made -- from stunts to visual effects to the music and sound," said Jim Ward, vp of marketing at Lucasfilm. "We take viewers around the world to explore the history behind the 'Indiana Jones' legends."

Ward said that there will be no director's commentary tracks on the three discs containing the films: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Available in both Widescreen and Full Screen versions via Paramount Home Entertainment, the collection has no suggested retail price but is expected to be available for about $49.95 in the United States.

I don't what else to say... other than this year is burning a hole into my wallet the size of the muslim faith!

Hopefully there'll be more features than what has been described, either way 5.1 or DTS sound on a Widescreen version of the Indy movies is gonna be way cool enough!

Oh brilliant, but not so good on the wallet. It sounds like it will be a great box set.

diergray 05-06-2003 03:36 AM

Sweet Jeebus! I never thought it would happen.

Tophat665 05-06-2003 04:05 AM

guthmund 05-06-2003 07:02 AM

Finally!

I hope it's chock full of extras....you can't go wrong with showing the Indy trilogy....it ranks right up there with the original Star Wars flicks for me.

MahlerIsGod 05-06-2003 07:39 PM

November 4th? They have chosen..........wisely.

Gortexfogg 05-06-2003 08:02 PM

I'll definately get this set. I wonder, when the fourth movie comes out, will they release another box set?

I so cannot wait for this set! It's a shame though (for some people) because the films will ONLY be released as a boxset, I know a couple of people who only like the first Indy flick (yep, they're mentally insane) so it's kinda unfair. Oh well, I love 'em all and am lookin' forward to it and Indy 4 in 2004/5 too!

Porkchop 05-07-2003 12:04 AM

Count me in for this one.

"So once again, Jones, what was briefly yours is now mine."

MikeyChalupa 05-07-2003 02:27 AM

Thanks, George. A preview of how the Star Wars Trilogy will eventually be available.

Isn't it funny that they decide to release them after rumors of a 4th movie. It's like - hey, we better take everyone for all we can before we rerelease a box set with all 4. Anyway, after my little bitching there, yes I will be there with you guys buying them.

Man, I have no will power, hehe.

-Ever- 05-08-2003 09:17 AM

Well you got me all excited, but no directors comments? Come on, I who buys DVD's just for the movie? I think that's kind of lame IMO. I hear that DVD's like this havn't been released because the directors havn't yet had time to put them together at the quality they would like them to be at (ie remastering, lots of special features). It seems like Lucas and Speilberg must have been talked into it, at our expense  I see that there is a fourth disc with extra features, but it sounds like all the old footage from when they first filmed the movie. I'd love to see a box set that includes the director's before and after thoughts to wrap up some of the best movies of all time. They deserve it! I just hope this isn't the first box set of a series to bring in $$
Thx for the post! My brothers going to flip a nut.

Anyone remember the James Bond boxset? That came with an empty space so you could put DIE ANOTHER DAY in there when it comes out, that was clever.

They're still remastering the footage at ILM for Indy, the commentaries can't come because Lucas is bust with Episode III and El Spielbergo is busy with making an assortment of quality cinema.

Indy 4 is slated for a 2005 release around the same time period that Episode III is released. They hope to being back Connery and Ford but recently Johnation Rhys Davis said Indy 4 would never me made... I guess he's just sad that they didn't ask him to come back ;)

Some more Indiana Jones 4 tidbits:
Quote:

This is from the brand-new issue of EMPIRE magazine (the Australian version). It is the June edition, issue #27:

There's good and bad Indy IV news, folks. The good? Well, the film is still scheduled for Summer 2005, just a few weeks after George Lucas' other baby, Star Wars Episode III.

Frank Darabont's screenplay is coming along nicely, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are primed, and the stunts will be top-notch. How do we know? Because Vic Armstrong, the god of stunt co-ordinators and Ford's former double, is on board. "I saw Steven at the Golden Globes," he told EMPIRE, exclusively. "And I asked him about Indy IV, and he said 'clear your diary because we're on'."

But the bad news is that it's likely that Sallah, Indy's ebullient Egyptian sidekick, won't be returning. "I get asked this question 25 times a week, and everyone knows more than I do. I guess I'm not in it," says John Rhys-Davies, who played Sallah in Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Last Crusade.

"In truth, I'd love to work for Steven again," continues the stout yeoman. "I'd love to have one more go at Sallah, get him right. You come close, but you always want to have one last bash at trying to make the character magical."

No more Shortround?! noooooooooooooooooooo!

"Dowkta Jones!" :D
"Fowchoon cookies!" :D

Bonesaw 05-08-2003 07:40 PM

Has anybody ever noticed with any and ALL of Spielberg's "special" editions on DVD, that NONE of them have his commentary? The man doesn't do audio commentary.

I can live without the audio commentary on the Indy flix since he didn't have one on Jaws, or ET or Close Encounters. What bother's me is that Indy 4 will come out and they will release yet another "special" edition to include the 4th one.

As it is Spielberg/Lucas sucked 50$ bucks out of me when the trilogy was released on VHS a couple of years ago, so now I'll wait until 4 comes out and then buy the "truly special" edition when it is released.
